These are the NEW documents "discovered" by CBS with conjunction with their Ben Barnes expose/confessional tonight regarding George Bush's National Guard service.
They've gotten some interesting comments on the Live Thread, so I thought I'd give them their own thread so you people out there with the knowledge can dissect them for their accuracy/truth/existence.
I just don't see McCain fighting that hard for this president. He acts like he is afraid of stepping on the toes of hs liberal pals.
Again it depends on the state and the unit and most of the facilitys and equipment like trucks and cars and tools, office machines ARE paid for by the individual states. The feds pick up costs for big stuff like the assigned aircraft and you don't EVEN want to try figuring out who pays what salarys to who when
You should see some of the guard units buildings up here, mighty fine stuff
You guys are all FABULOUS!!! to analyze this!!!!!
Although I don't believe this issue will hurt GW, I surely would like to see paybacks for the lamestream media with a big blitz and the proof (maybe put out to other networks???) out there, not just on internet and our side-radio only.
What a great day that would be, Blather CAUGHT at faking or not properly vetting fake copies.
Then maybe the MSM would sit up and take notice, especially in dead people's claims and say-so's.
Can you Freepers who are analyzing this tell me-is there any hope of this making the big time?
Does anyone have the ablity to make media listen, with proper proof?

the above link has reference scans of IBM typewriter fonts from the 70s none of them I can find have the "th" for use in things like "11th" as is in this document: http://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/pdf/BushGuardmay4.pdf
I am not sure if these scans are of the complete fonts. Any typewriter buffs no if you could get special characters on 1972 (and before) typewriters?
Why write the memo at all?
Thanks--you put into words a line of thought I was trying to verbalize. Or as I would put it: Independently of any problems with the mechanics of the typewriter, the documents strike me as forgeries because they commit to paper something which someone at the time would have had little motive to record in such detail for official filing purposes. The documents have little meaning in a 1972 context; their meaning appears geared towards the context of the 2004 election campaign. The documents' Sitz-im-Leben (the term literary critics use to refer to the situation constituting the historical context of a written work) seems to be 2004, not 1972. The documents strike me as reminsicent of somone who knows someone else is eavesdropping on them and deliberately speaks louder to make sure the eavesdropper hears. It reminds me of that old Saturday Night Live skit on the Watergate tapes where Nixon and his aide are trying not to laugh as they talk knowingly into the bug recording them while they hold up a sign that says, "Let's speak in incomplete sentences!"
Got it. What a $h!tty site! The Bush info is from some researchers via FOIA and the Kerry stuff is pulled from Kerry's own website! I'm sure that that's complete and acurate!
Stay Strong,

Yep!
I'm with you; I'm always afraid when he opens his mouth.
Yahoo maps shows that zip-code for 5000 Longmont Dr., Houston, TX is 77056 not 77027 as addressed in memo #1.
The two post offices appear to be less than two miles from each other. The 77056 post office is west (outside) of Loop 610 and south of the Galleria. The 77027 is east of Loop 610 (inside). As I recall the Galleria was built in the early '70s. Someone should check the plaque on the post office for 77056 to find out when it was built.
Well that part that gets me is, who in the military hangs on to this kind of stuff, much less be able to actualy find it 30 some odd years later? come on the guys got out in 1973
NONE of it would have been in any of President Bushs service records, it's just not that kind of stuff
I'm having a hard time beliveing that ANY military unit would have filed and hung onto a 31 year old order to report for a flight physical for a one term, part time guardsman. And letters for memo?....heck they usually get heaved once a year or at least when the guy or his commander leaves. And a CYA letter?.....pleeeze, what kind of nutcase hangs on to one of those?
We had admin types in Korat, Thailand, 1972, 17 Wild Weasel Squadron.
Much of the evidence presented here is very compelling.
But, if (I assume that it is) the bottom signature is the true one, this is INDEED A FORGERY (assuming that no clerk signed it for the Colonel).
Good catch! (FR Investigators R You).
Guard and Reseve CO's are most always full time employees. They are technically civilians during the normal workweek, even though they wear AF or Army uniforms. During weekend drills they are reservists/guardsmen performing inactive duty training. Only one weekend a month is generally a "drill" weekend. (Sometimes they have "make up" weekends, once or twice a year)
Someone needs to go to the main library in downtown Houston and check Polk's City Directories (archives) for the years 1971 and 1972 re the Longmont address. Also check pertinent names while at it.
Looks like a pretty good match to the Times New Roman on the IBM Executive Fonts you posted.
Only problem is that the White House spokesman apparently agreed that the memos were genuine, but the interpretation of their content was incorrect.
The letters J - K - l and a are not the same
I just drove home and haven't seen the memo's, but two things jump out at me and I think they fit into your list, which I agree with.
No corrections and they appear to be proofread.
Everyone of us on this forum has expienced those problems along with spelliing errors.
