Hurricane Ivan has become a Category 4 Hurricane again! Winds over 130 mph and gusts up to 160 currently. The models have shifted the last 36 hrs like never before. My fellow Floridians might not like the 8 pm model that has just come out:
I'd be most amazed at the Spam selling out completely. Yuck!
I have been living in a hotel room with 3 adults, dog and birdies for 5 days- came home to an intact home in Cocoa Beach with no air- staying at brothers home- trees down here but electricity ?? anyway- the media scared the crap out of us for 4 days and here we go again- my boards that didn't flip off are staying on until end of November!!!!Go Away Ivan!
Yes, I'm a joe brower groupette.

OK, I haven't read all the posts on this thread, but I will say it, and maybe be the first. It will not be long before we see some lib says that Florida's voting has to take into account the recent weather events, and that something needs to be done to make sure all those people affected by the storm do not get disenfranchised. They will have some solution like sending people out with absentee ballots or something to have those affected by the weather vote. Of course the selected areas will be select areas to do this. It may not happen this way, but some lib demonRat is gonna propose that something be done differently this election because of the storms.
So did wifey's sister in Lakeland; they reported today that Chuck was worse for them (no damage to them, but more in the way of tree downings, etc.) than Frances, other than seven hours sans power from Frances.
They've lobbied for us to retire near them down there....ain't gonna happen; we'll stick with the San Andreas fault, thank you.
I'm waiting for some demon rat to blame the hurricanes and the ensuing costs on bush!
I know! I found it really funny, too!! But some folks really do like it (my father in law, for one, after WWII). Would be interested to hear from other vets on that one. And I will confess that I was in the market for the deviled ham, which is traditional emergency rations for me.
I'd go for the Vienna Sausages. Real ones, not the ones with chicken. I think my husband would have eaten the Spam but he'd of been eating it by himself.
:o)
Say, uh, fv, I know it's early yet, but I can't help noticing it's favoring the west coast . . . are you ready for a vacation to our lovely east coast?
Crazy Ivan!
. . . in a room by himself? I'm tellin ya, that stuff stinks (yeah, I got roped in to opening a can once!)
Ever seen a half-mile wide F4 tornado? :)
I was only mildly frightened, until I saw the aftermath. The semi trailer on the factory roof gave me the willies.

Interesting.. depends on how much of Cuba the hurricane comes over.. Charley came up under Cuba and become a CAT 4 right before landfall.
I still think it's a miracle that Frances didn't charge up right before sliding into land.
I've never gone through the type things you all have been going through and so all I can offer you is prayers and moral support.
I spent all my summers in the 70s on the west coast of Florida and never knew from nothing about hurricane season until I moved to Delaware in '82. I dealt with Gloria there and Isabel here in Virginia last year...........but absolutely nothing compared to what is happening in Florida right now.
God be with you and hopefully Ivan will take a turn to the south and leave you folks alone for a change.
I'm certain the unsettled atmosphere makes the writing more blurry, esp. for those who have to try to connect those pesky arrows.
