Bond brokerage that lost two-thirds of its workers in the 9/11 attack is seeking damages.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Cantor Fitzgerald, the bond brokerage that suffered more deaths in the Sept. 11 attacks than any other company, on Friday sued al Qaeda, Saudi Arabia and dozens of foreign companies seeking damages related to the attacks on the World Trade Center.

The suit, filed as the three-year anniversary of the airplane attacks that killed about 3,000 people approaches, is the latest filed in New York federal court against al Qaeda, including one last year by a group of insurance companies.

It seeks billions of dollars in damages, charging that the al Qaeda carried off the attacks with the aid of foreign governments and corporations.

Don't sue AQ directly, stupid.

Sue Saudi arabia however for trillions. They owe it.

I saw that, that is their best bet by far, and should've been the only party. That was my point.

Sounds to me like they want to be in a position to make a claim against any al-Qaida assets the gov't may seize. And they do have a claim.

Saudi Arabia last month began a radio advertising campaign citing the Sept. 11 Commission's conclusion that the Saudi government did not fund al-Qaeda as proof that it has been a loyal ally in the fight against terrorism.

As the ad campaign was launched, Saudi embassy spokesman Nail al-Jubeir said the ads tell Americans "these are the facts that your own independent commission has said about Saudi Arabia. You make up your mind."

The commission had also criticized Saudi Arabia, calling it "a problematic ally in combating Islamic extremism." It said Saudi-funded Islamic schools have been exploited by extremists and, while Saudi cooperation against terrorism improved after the Sept. 11 attacks, "significant problems remained."

my mind is made up ... and the Saudi ad on the radio stations mentions nothing of the last paragraph cited ... bottom line, Saudi Arabia supports terrorism, clearly shown in their fundraisers for "Palestine"

I don't usually say this about any legal action, but...

I hope they win, and I hope they win so much in damages the Saudis will be sued back into the stone age.

And Al Qaeda will ask for and get a change of venue. In Cuba.

Case dismissed :(

"Cantor Fitzberald sues Al Qaeda"

Yes and why not?
IN MY OPINION that seems like a good lawsuit to me.

AND, suing any Saudi official who is funding these schools should be sued, too.

Thanks for the ping Bobby.

Does Lutnik still run Cantor?

All the sympathy notes aside, his reputation was poor before the attacks, and has remained so after.

yep, this baloney from Saudi Arabia on the radio makes me wanna puke. Don't know if you've heard it. Saudi Arabia claiming they're our "partners" in the War on Terror is like Hitler saying he's an ally in the War on Facism. Standard double-talk from these clowns. If they broke up a cell, it is *only* because they might have overthrown the Saudi Royals, and nothing else.

I lost a dear friend at Cantor that day --- Karen J. Klitzman. She was VP of E-Speed, Cantor's subsidiary.

I will never forget that day as long as I live.

God bless George W. Bush for going after these people.

My condolences on the loss of your friend. That's one of the stark things that stands out, that so many likely had no idea what was happening. Though I know it's not true for many, I hope that most did not suffer long. But that may only be wishful thinking.

The suit, filed as the three-year anniversary of the airplane attacks that killed about 3,000 people approaches...

They mean the THIRD anniversary.
