The Case Against Him
Time Magazine ^ | 8/29/04 | MICHAEL KINSLEY

Posted on 09/03/2004 7:32:24 AM PDT by Nonstatist

What do we know about George W. Bush that we didn't know four years ago, when most of us voted for someone else? . Never has anyone become President of the United States less pretested by life...

... In his 40s, he was still a kid, hanging around his father's White House with not much to do. A decade later, without actually winning the most votes, he was President himself. Then came Sept. 11.

... even a mediocrity can seem great for a while. After Sept. 11, the War on terrorism was declared. An actual war was started in Iraq and still goes on. . More than $100 billion has been spent. . The toll of American lives lost responding to 9/11 may exceed the toll of 9/11 itself.

Are we safer from terrorism than we were before?

The only honest answer is, Who knows?

.. it is clear beyond dispute that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. ..Subtract the war on terror, including Iraq, and the Bush presidency looks small indeed.

In four years, this small man had two historic opportunities to reach for greatness, and he passed up both. The first was when the Democrats patriotically bowed to a Supreme Court decision they believed to be wrong .. George W. Bush's second opportunity came on Sept. 11, 2001. Past grievances suddenly seemed petty, current disagreements seemed irrelevant, and, even among Bush's opponents, desperate hope replaced sullen doubts that our nation's leader would be up to the task. Bush got this gift ..... He could have asked for and got anything he wanted in the weeks and months after 9/11. And he decided to invade Iraq.

For once, George W. Bush was tested. And he flunked.

A whiney effete editorialist weighs in. Funny, but doesent his biographical description really sound like JFK ? Must be some kind of projection thing.

This behavior reminds me of an injured and cornered animal. There is no telling what kind of response you might see.

This is actually a good thing.

All pretense of fairness must be abandoned for the cause of getting back in power.

What as idiotic comment. Of course if you subtract the biggest issues it would look small. I mean subtract the economy and the lies and Clinton's presidency looks small as well.

Why is a Time Magazine piece written with the same style and mentality as my kids in 9th grade?

"...when most of us voted for someone else?"

"MOST" of us? If it hadn't been for the faked ballots (remember the guy with a voting machine in his trunk?), the cemetary vote, and the crowds of people being bussed from polling place to polling place, President Bush would have won by a landslide. (And oh, let's not forget all the military ballots they refused to count!)

"The first was when the Democrats patriotically bowed to a Supreme Court decision they believed to be wrong .."

Patriotically bowed? Where's my throw-up pot? If the Dems believed in God, they would have gone whining to Him.

What kind of oppportunity was this for GWB, anyway? To say "No, thanks, I didn't really want to be president"???

Didn't Algore fire the first legal shot?

I couldn't read the whole thing...

Hmm.. Suppose all those Al Queada terrorists in Iraq are a figment of my imagination.

He was Governor of Texas at 48, hardly a kid with nothing to do.

Quote:... even a mediocrity can seem great for a while. After Sept. 11, the War on terrorism was declared. An actual war was started in Iraq and still goes on.

The War on Terrorism wasn't/isn't an actual war? Isn;t Iraq one of the fronts on the War on Terror?

Someone paid him to write this?

The Liberal Socialist Communist Left-Wing Lying Media is going absolutely bananas trying to find something to bash Bush about. Kerry is such a looser they have to pick on inconsequential (that's all they can find) incidentals about Bush and blow them out of proportion in their attempt to draw attention away from Communist Comrade Kerry.

Kerry faked accounts and lied to get medals in Vietnam so he could pretend to be a war hero and run for Congress, while the reality is that he ran and left his brothers in danger, shot a fleeing teenage VC in the back and then put himself in for a medal, and abandoned his brothers and left early by using trumped up Purple Hearts to leave Vietnam.

When Kerry got back to the States he found that being a war hero was not going to work in his campaign for Congress, so he joined with the Communist Party, the Communists of North Vietnam, and radical Socialists and betrayed his fellow Vietnam Veterans, caused harm to our POW's still held captive, and flew to Paris and met with Viet Kong representatives to help them win the war while still in the Navy (Reserves).

Kerry also went to Niceraqua and met with Communist Ortega while Reagan was trying to help free those people from Communism. Kerry's actions caused harm to the USA.

Kerry is a Communist loving and supporting Socialist that is being supported by the Socialist Left Wing Elite Media. BILL MAHR admitted yesterday to Bill Orielly that he thinks that "the country has evolved, is rightly evolving, into a socialist country".

VOTE REPUBLICAN - FIGHT SOCIALISM / COMMUNISM

Folks, looking at MICHAEL KINSLEY or MICHAEL MOORE and their lamestream media - is looking into the lying eyes of the LEFTIST enemy..

They represent failed ideas, misused power, corruption and lies.....
They MUST be driven from office by the vote, if we wish to avoid the need to drive them out with bullets after they have enslaved us.

Kingsley is a rabid elitist hack who writes anti Bush articles every time he gets a chance. His language is always full of hate and anger. He is wrong about W, of course and makes us wonder just where he was on 9/11 and what he was doing the first four years of this administration. His attack will stand and fall on its own merits, which are totally lacking.
