I happen to notice there was some mention of John Edwards and the Girl Scouts. I'm not sure what started that discussion but it made me think about the Scouts.
Now I know the dems hate the conservative cause so much there were reports Boy Scouts were harassed at the dem convention in 2002.
We also know that kerry was actually in Viet Nam and mentions it a time or thousand. Yes, both candidates served and Bush even was gratious to say that kerry's service was honorable.
So they both served and that issue should have died a long time ago, except kerry doesn't have anything else on his resume. Twenty years in the Senate with nothing to show for it is pretty pathetic. It would also help if he had shown up once in awhile instead of collecting a paycheck.
Which brings us to a service to our country that doesn't hand out paychecks just because someone mirrored an assassinated president. The Boy Scouts.
Could the candidates have the same integrity as an eleven year old entering an organization that changes the soap box derby child into the eighteen year old man ready for adulthood?
The Scout Law is twelve rules that each boy has to know.
Here are the rules and how I believe each candidate would obey them.
A Scout is:
Trustworthy - Bush by a landslide. Mister flip flopper couldn't be trusted to say what he means.
Loyal - Bush again. kerry dumps the first wife for the bigger score and I don't think I have to mention the Swifties.
Helpful - Bush again. It's that old "Tax and Spend" the dems can't seem to forget about. Giving somebody something doesn't help. They have to learn to earn it.
Friendly - I have to say this is a tossup. There really isn't anything friendlier than a used car salesman or a politician during an election.
Courteous - Perhaps Bush again. I saw those still pictures that showed kerry slamming into the little old lady when he ran to the Huey helicopter. If it was a video, I would like to think he apologized but there's no evidence of that. There's also no evidence he didn't.
Kind - I tried to give this one to kerry. Anyone locking lips with a hamster should get some kind of recognition. On the other hand, I don't kill birds for a photoshoot. There's also that pesky abortion issue. Bush again.
Obedient - Bush again. Hey, kerry! You're supposed to show up for work once in awhile. Do the job you're being paid for!
Cheerful - Tossup. There was that little to-do in Vegas with kerry and the missus but we don't know what started it.
Thrifty - A lot of people criticize Bush for spending our money like a drunken sailor. Isn't that what politicians do? On the other hand, you would think someone would know how to spend their own money. Bush again. kerry spends Taraazaa's money like a drunken sailor. Oops. I did say their own money, didn't I? Nope, no way can kerry can get this one. Bush again.
Brave - As much as I would love this one to go to Bush, I can't do it. It has to be a tossup between the two. Off set this one to mean kerry would toss himself on a live grenade if it furthered his career.
Clean - Bush looked like a mess when he was moving that wood brush at the ranch at Crawford. He does clean up nicely. Toss up.
Reverent - Bush. This one took a lot of thought. I was going to ignore the abortion issue and say it was a toss up. I can't do it. I know we can never know what's in the hearts of men but this one is a litmus test.
Guess he used his draft evading skills to avoid service just as bill the boob.
So the question is where was John?
Why does it matter to Kerry that Cheney wasn't in Vietnam when Clinton wasn't and Edwards wasn't. Kerry wants to wave the bloody shirt of Vietnam to isolate himself from any criticism. Hence, he says he was in Vietnam all the time and that any criticism of his votes is an attack on his patriotism. It's a red herring. The media will back him up, but we can make this the hoot of a joke that it is. Now not only do we say "he was in Vietnam" but we say "that's an attack on my patriotism" for the scondrel statement that it is.
I'll probably get banned for this, and I don't care. I don't like Kerry, but I don't like Bush either. It's a crappy choice either way.
Anyway, Bush didn't serve in the military the chicken ran under his daddy's protection and never had to serve. And THAT'S documented. I don't care whether or not Kerry was given medals for whatever reason. At least he was in Nam and has the pictures to prove it. I'm just sick and tire of this stupid debate about Kerry's record...he was there, face it, Bush wasn't. That entire topic should have been avoided. You don't go after someone in a questionable argument. You hit them where they are truly weakest. Then all you arguments hod up, and there's no disputing your claims.
The main focus should be Kerry's flip flopping.
ANd I think republicans are LUCKY that the Democrats have not broken open and pecked at the wound of Bush AWOL year as much as we've poked at Kerry's record.
They're both just a couple of fortunate sons.

Kerry served both the US Military and the NVA, after all Giap credit kerry for his win.
So at the least J F K was a coward for splitting on his men and then spitting on them.
Ain't no choice, a fighter pilot or a NVA stooge, look at the history then decide.
Now if you want to talk about domestic policy I will agree with you they both suck.
You see nothing wrong with a traitorous sob like kerry who accused American combat veterans of warcrimes publicly to the US govt and publicly to our enemies that were still KILLING Americans ??
Along with the hanoi-whore-fonda, ramsey clark, and even let's-hide-in-moscow-willie clinton - all traitors who do not deserve to be inside our country's borders.

Bush and Kerry were Reserve Officers...Both had to go to Basic Training and Both had active time requirements. AND THATS DOCUMENTED!

See the point I'm making is the stupidity of party politics where we're willing to defend the actions of some lame wuss, sorry excuse for a president JUST because he happens to be the leader of the party we relate to. It's the same for both sides.
There's no real choice in this country....we need a third viable alternative.
Kerry Joined the reserves to, by the way...I suppose you think for a different reason.
TRAINING? That's your best answer? It's AFTER The training that it hits the fan.....people don't shoot LIVE rounds at you during training./...... keep riding that dream horse buddy.
The Boy Scouts should be the charity of the Republicans. The Boy Scouts develop character, encourage belief in a supreme being, Patriotism, and moral development. These things are poison to the libs.
Please do not jump on me if I overstated or misstated the goals because I was trying to make a point here.
If you are bold enough, tell him into his face. The man has guts to be doing the job he has right now. Name one thing he has done to you or anyone to deserve your insults.
You do not know the politics of the Military. Reserves were being called up left and right. GW's Unit was on the ready for deployment, but was never called. Just so happens Kerry's reserve unit got called. GW would have been there.
