Saying they are being jammed is a pretty tall order. It's more likely they are having technical issues or satelite problems.

I was listening earlier, things were going normally, then I heard Al Franken's voice in the background screaming something about weevils and then there was a lot of crashing and cursing and screaming and then the whole thing went dead and then I started hearing the North Korean National Anthem. Maybe they'll get it fixed soon.

I can't get anything over the air either. But I can get the other major AM radio stations. Must be a WABC-specific transmitter problem. I doubt it has anything to do with jamming. You're probably picking up a faint 770 AM signal from a nearby city.

Can't jam one of those stations w/o at least an equal size transmitter and antenna. That's truely a rare occurence for a station like that to lose trx. Maybe they were taken over? Power and backup gen cut?

Really hard to block out 50KW at short range. More likely a technical problem.

I called WABC's newsroom. They're just off the air for transmitter work. There is no convention anarchist involvement.

Their transmitter is in
Lodi, New Jersey, across the river from Manhattan. My guess is there's something wrong with the link from their Manhattan studios to the transmitter.

I just spoke with a guy in the newsroom. They're off the air til 4am. It was apparently scheduled, but nobody told him! Sounded like I wasn't the first to make such a call. Anyway, all is well in WABC land.
