NEW YORK (Talon News) -- An internal poll shows that Rep. John Thune (R-SD) has gained enough momentum to pass Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD) in the most closely watched Senate race of 2004. The Republican numbers indicate that Thune is moving up in the polls and is at or near 50% while the incumbent remains stalled at 48%.
National Senatorial Committee Chairman Sen. George Allen (R-VA) announced the new numbers at a breakfast for South Dakota's delegates to the Republican National Convention on Tuesday. He told delegates that South Dakotans have the ability to "transform the United States Senate" by replacing Daschle with Thune.

I live in Idaho but I've donated to his campaign. All that can afford it should!
Actually, the face of HIllary day in and day out may be the best thing that could happen for the Republicans.
Oh, wow! I'd LOVE to see Tiny Tom trounced!
Please god, let it be so.
I also think we can pick on up in Florida with Mel Martinez.
Just sent Thune $50 last night.
Until Rudy beats her in 2006.
God I hope that Martinez does pick up Florida
if that were to happen then we would not only retain but be able to expand our majority even with the IL loss
As soon as I saw this, I went and donated $350 to Thune's campaign!
Daschle and Kennedy, you have done a good job for me in the Senate, I really appreciate your support and now you are on your own
/sarcasm off
Maybe Daschle needs to run an add where he is arm-in-arm with Kerry saying, "I was with this guy before I was without him."
Now THAT'S funny!!!
In November:
Bush will win with > 300 EV's
Daschle will be gone and the GOP gains a net of 2
House has net GOP gain of 6

IT WILL BE BETTER THAN THAT!
Yes, W takes over 300 EV's, but we pick up at least 3 in the senate (lose IL, gain GA, FL, LA, NC) Some other senate seats such as SD come into play. Plus, our chances of holding CO increase. The house gets at least 6 net just because of reapportionment in TX.
In the end, we could further solidfy the house, pick up 6 in the senate.
We'll get SC too...
I'm from Louisiana, and agree that we have a fair chance at a Senate pickup here. (Breaux retiring, David Vitter winning the seat.) Vitter's a solid conservative, and an aggressive, very public figure.
We're also keeping fingers crossed for the demise of Tiny Tom! Watching Thune come SO close last time was heartbreaking...
Tom Daschle is deeply saddened.
the redistricting is a big plus but remember there are at least 3 GOP retirements out there and a few competitives so although i am almost positive we will retain majority but i dont know if or by how much we will increase it to
poll ping
