Could he have meant that Zell "learned at Maddox's knee," so to speak?

Nope. It was a smear. The one thing Lester Maddox is remembered for is being a segregationist. Maddox owned a restaurant in Georgia, and he refused to serve black people. He ended up closing his restaurant rather than integrate, and he became governor because of that notoriety. Since Miller was around before Maddox was, there was no way Miller learned at Maddox's knee. What Gergen did was a blatant, race-baiting, smear.

Hear, hear. The essence of his speech was RIGHTEOUS ANGER BY A FELLOW DEMOCRAT who has seen his party go down the toilet.

Implication: God-fearing, patriotic, NON-MARXIST Democrats like him should feel similar RIGHTEOUS ANGER and vote for GWB.

The lefitst Dems are petrified and with good reason.

****WHOA! THIS IS GOOD!***

From NRO, the Kerry Spot:

AN IMPENDING BOMBSHELL?

Months ago, I was chatting with a Republican who is very, very knowledgeable about Kerry and I mentioned Kerry's 1971 travels to Paris, and meetings with Madame Nguyen Thi Binh. ..widely recognized as the Viet Cong delegate to the peace conference.

"Yeah, I've heard about that," the Republican said. "I've heard a lot of interesting things about that, but I don't think I want to talk about that just yet."

My eyebrows were raised, but he wouldn't say more. Well, apparently Newt Gingrich just said to Sean Hannity, very slowly, very carefully, that John Kerry traveled to Paris three times to meet with the Communist leadership in secret.

I think we now know what that Republican didn't yet want to talk about.

This will play in many segments of the liberal strongholds.

Many are just looking for people to confirm that the Demodogs and Fraudcasters have been misleading them, but unless they are into talk radio, they never hear that support they crave. If they watched Zell tonight, they found someone they can relate to.

Mark my words: this "bounce" coming will not be only in the "flyover" states, but all over the country, thus proving what I've been stating for a long time now: the country is not as "polarized" as the Old Media and Fraudcasters and Demodogs would like America to believe.

Wow, I'm going to thank you for that link again. I didn't know it was an interview with Chris Matthews and Miller really tore into him good!

This moderate Pubbie thinks Gergen is a useful idiot for the Left. He frankly really isn't very bright. Sad really.

Yep. And his voice sounds like he's talking with marbles in his mouth.

If anyone is still up, msnbc soon might be playing a good part of the Zell/Chris exchange, unless they're just foolin' with us.

Sounds like Joe Scarborough might run some of it though.

No promises.

"I agree mostly but it might help New Hampshire and Southern Kali and eastern Wash and OR."

I agree that this could help in OR, wardaddy.

This is a conservative state, sans Portland.
We, also, have the Marriage Amendment on the ballot.
Conservatives and Republicans (I know...strange...but
so is this state) should be chomping at the bit to
put their ballots in the mail. ;o)

...McCain quite rattled by Zell's speech!...

Don't know if anyone's asked this question yet, but what does Kerry have on McCain? Is it collusion on legislation - something is wrong with their coziness. Kerry said McCain's name often in his speech today and now your report.

Oddly enough the question was prompted by Ron (I ain't my Father!) Reagan snidely asking if Senator Miller was paid by the republicans.

Rich Lowry just said the same thing, that he came across as angry...

I am not sure this is the bad thing you think it to be. I mean how is a person suppose to act when they feel that their party, that they have been part of all their life has betrayed everything it use to stand for and is on the verge of being treasonous to the country you love and are suppose to be serving.

Don't you think he would have looked strange dressing down his party at the other party's convention all smiles and cute jokes? If he had been a Republican dressing down the dems then yes he would have been over the top, but he was not. He was a "dem til death" dressing down his party for its disloyalty to the troops and country in a time of war endorsing the other party's presidential candidate, and that could only be done in a dead serious way. Otherwise he would have looked disingenuous.

Now that I'm seeing it, I can see how this whole thing started. There was obviously a breakdown in communication at the beginning of the interview... and things spiraled from there.
