Now that I'm seeing it, I can see how this whole thing started. There was obviously a breakdown in communication at the beginning of the interview... and things spiraled from there.

I think there's more to it than that. Republicans were furious over Chris' treatment of Michelle Malkin...Chris kept quoting something she DID NOT SAY ("You're saying Kerry shot himself!").

I think Zell was prepped to be on the lookout for that rhetorical trick...misquote the guest. Chris said Zell questioned Kerry's patriotism...exactly the opposite of what Zell said from the podium.

Zell was prepared and he pounced.
