Sorry for starting this thread so early. Is this like calling "shotgun" three days before the trip starts LOL?
I was trying to find out the time that the Senator's speech will occur. I found nothing at the Legion website (www.legion.org), nor at the Kerry site, nor at CSPAN. When will the speech be given?
Anyway, here is a thread for people to post their comments.
Not to faithincowboys who apparently believes he is getting an enthusiastic response.
I wish on both counts. But the truth is that I have a video card that allows me to watch TV right on my computer monitor with a Closed Captioning feature. I can tell it to write the CC text to HTML, and then I just cut and paste.
It is very clear that the democrats have much worse manners than we do.
The protesters outside the convention are perfect examples of that. Nothing like this was done during their convention.
We are the party of grownups remember?
Today, these men behaved like grown ups. They heard him out.
Now he will be rejected after giving him a fair hearing.
That's honorable. Let's be that way too.
The kind of person Kerry is, you don't waste your can of whoop-ass on. He does that just fine to himself.
His crowd will take their sound bite and try to re-package it all they want.
These AL folks are polite. They know when someone is trying to buy them. They don't need to become like the Democrats to defeat them at the polls.
I've seen comments about this before, and was curious.
Have just been googling, and will not claim that I've searched all links way back when, but all that comes up that is directly related to Kerry and a visit to Walter Reed is a link that states he PLANS to visit WR.
I've been doing a bit of searching on this now, and there is nothing that comes up readily that he actually MADE that visit.
This was from May 2004:

Kerry Decries Treatment of War Veterans
Democrat John Kerry told veterans Saturday that "we've got to get folks out there marching again" for their benefits. The Massachusetts senator also planned to visit Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington later Saturday to talk privately with patients.
"It's not something I'm doing for the campaign," Kerry said. "It's just personal."
The situation demanded that somebody of principle reluctantly, but unmistakably derail his photo op. No one did. That is a major letdown.
The Kerry people and all of his buddies in the media thought (or feared) that it would get contentious. It didn't. Them giving him a clean bill of health is a lousy message to give to the rest of the electorate in a tight, critical election.
Should have said it was the memory though. That would have freaked me out.
It is a wonder when someone is referred to as a "lyin' snake", isn't it?
So why did we even have a thread about this?
WEREN'T WE ALL HOPING AND EXPECTING THAT HE WOULD BE A VICTIM OF GOOD OLD FASHIONED DISSENT?
OF COURSE, WE WERE.
WHY DID THE SWIFTIES AND ANTI-KERRY VIET VETS MAKE A SIGNIFACT AD BUY (ON TV AND IN THE NEWSPAPERS)? TO RUIN HIS
GOP CONVENTION WEEK EVENT.
IT DIDN'T HAPPEN, AND THAT IS JUST PLAIN TOO BAD.
IF WE END UP LOSING THIS ELECTION ( I DON'T EXPECT THAT TO HAPPEN, BUT IF...) I WILL REMEMBER TODAY WITH GREAT REGRET.
I fully expected him to address the Swift Boat Vets. It's strange that he didn't...the only thing I can think of is that he is going to release damaging info about their private lives and any possible Republcan ties such as maybe they gave $250 to Bush or something.
Keep telling the truth.
700 to 1000 has been reported and looks about right. CNN had some long shots that showed the full room. The applause was polite at best.
IT DIDN'T LOOK LIKE THE SCENE IN GODFATHER II WHERE HAVANA FELL TO THE COMMIES, THUS IT WAS A FAILURE.
It means that the National Guard doesn't have any actual duties. To require them to actually serve when they clearly didn't sign up for that is the same thing as drafting them. They're being drafted through deception (back door) rather than an outright draft.
Hey, I don't agree with what he's saying. I'm just telling you what he means.
I kid about post #813. But my point is , he wasn't embarrassed and that is really unfortunate.
For heaven's sake calm down and go take a walk. You are entirely too agitated.
You become more moronic with each post in your absurd attacks on those who have fought to give you freedom to make an idiot of yourself.
You're right. They blew it. Tepid applause implies less than whole-hearted acceptance, but acceptance nevertheless.
They missed their opportunity. For example, when Kerry mentioned body armor, someone should have stood up and shouted, "Body armor? You voted against it!"
At the end, they had "Veterans for Kerry" signs all over the stage. I am a member of the American Legion, but now I am ashamed to say so.
In the SOUTH we observe the amenities, so their tepid response to Kerry did exactly that. Such treatment can be devastating, and Kerry knows it. These vets were gentlemen in the true Southern sense, recognition of his status as a candidate but not particularly admired. They can't be faulted since they did show up; Kerry can be faulted BIG TIME for his pathetic and hypocritical remarks.
