A suspect was arrested last night in the vicious beating of a cop at a protest Monday, a law-enforcement source said.

Jamal Holiday of Manhattan, who turns 20 today, will likely be spending his birthday in jail for assaulting Detective William Sample Jr., according to the source.

Sample, meanwhile, was on the mend at home.

The 10-year veteran who usually investigates taxi-business crimes, was badly bruised and suffered internal injuries in the attack that Mayor Bloomberg called "outrageous."

I'd like to see Jamal's rap sheet. I'll bet a paycheck that he has a lengthy one. I'll also bet that he cares less about any "cause" than he does about just being a mean, petty criminal.

From what I saw there was very little coverage of this assault in the general media. I would bet money if certain aspects of the attacker and victim were switched there would have been a lot more outcry for justice.

Hopefully the attacker will get what he deserves, but for some reason I highly doubt it.

"assault"?

It should be attempted murder.

That if the cop drove his scooter into people, what did he expect sort of. It was weird. Kuby is such a hypocrite though.

"People are trying to question the policies of a corrupt government. They take to the streets and don't ask permission," said protester Gan Golan, 30, a graduate student from Boston, who was arrested hours later after he sat in the street and refused to get up.

A 30 year-old grad student? Sounds like another evil, rich democrat to me.

I'm not defending this puke in any way.

But it always amazes me the rhetoric that gets wrapped around these kinds of stories.

He's a "suspect" and it was a "vicious attack".

Meanwhile, "Officers" often "respond to a domestic violence situation" and "return fire".

Just seems to me that there's plenty enough of making it sound one way or another.

where is Kerry's denouncement of these unacceptable attacks on innocent people?
Hey, he can only lie about one thing at a time. Oh, wait, he's lying about dozens of things right now, isn't he?

*Check out the front page of the NYCLU's website...according to them it was such a "peaceful" protest:

http://www.nyclu.org/

Their fax number is at the bottom of the page somewhere. I couldn't find an email address to flood them with our "concerns" about their erroneous story.*

Thanks serpentineshel, I'll do that. Speaking as a New Yorker I can tell you that I don't recall a time in this city where organizations have so transparently enabled thuggish violence. My leftie friends have abandoned the concept of free speach and are thuggishly infringing on people's right to assembly. Hypocrites.

Naw, you don't suppose the cops would do anything as dastardly and, and, and downright clever! as that, do you?

Perhaps it's because I've had one too many martinis for lunch, but where is the link to the video on this weasel's attack on a human being?

"Good to know they got this piece of crap. Hopefully, he has a momentus 20th birthday locked up in a cell next to someone named Bubba."

Can you say "wife of the guy with the most cigarettes?"

Unfortunately, he will likely be lauded in the pen for damaging a cop......or somethinged in the something at any rate...

I guess if those protesters didn't act like animals the police wouldn't have to bring out the pens.

If this criminal was part of a group that was given a permit to protest, then the group should be held accountable, also. At a minimum, the police officer should be able to pursue civil action for damages, pain and suffering. After all, isn't that the "liberal ideal"?
