TERRY MCAULIFFE, UPSET ABOUT DELEGATE BAND-AIDS [08/30 10:00 PM]
From the DNC:
Upon hearing of multiple news reports that GOP delegates are belittling the injuries soldiers sustained during service by wearing band-aids with purple hearts, DNC Chair Terry McAuliffe issued the following statement:
"It is inexcusable for a Republican delegate to mock anyone who has ever put on a soldier's uniform. It is inexcusable to mock service and sacrifice. Our service men and women put their lives on the line every day. If they are wounded in the line of duty it is because they are fighting on the frontlines for freedom. Anything but complete respect for their service is unacceptable.
"Mindful of the fact that over 3700 purple hearts have been issued during the Iraq war so far and none of us know how high that number will climb, I call on John McCain and Rudy Giuliani, before they speak, to tell their delegates to disavow these tactics. I call on these two men to use the power of their positions to tell their delegates that service matters, sacrifice matters, and that no Republican delegate should ever mock the service of our soldiers."
I see absolutely no benefit to Kerry or the Democrats from this particular rapid reaction statement. Everyone with functioning brain cells can tell that these band-aids are meant to mock Kerry, not "belittling the injuries soldiers sustained during service."
Hey, Terry, if it's "inexcusable to mock anyone who has ever put on a soldier's uniform", would that include the Swift Boat Vets, too?
Oh Terry, so touchy when things aren't going your way. Go have coffee with Bill Clinton and talk over old times. And then each of you can have a good cry on each others shoulder.
It's hard to believe this guy is still head of the Party. Hey Terry, you have other things to worry about besides Band-aids. yeesh.
I think his goons have had a field day with the President's service as well. They opened the door and we are going to make them regret it.
Of course the saintly democrats have never made fun of President Bush, oh no, they are above that, eh Terry?
Terry boy knows exactly who the bandaid is aimed at.
Terry you simpering limp-wristed pussy!
Nice try Terry .. but they were mocking JOHN KERRY
Such respect demanded for the Purple Heart.
Isn't that rich.
Terry, ask your nominee why he threw his over the White House fence.
And in the next breath, Terry went on to say, "unless the uniformn is the uniform of the Texas Air National Guard, in which case, you can mock all you want because we all know that the wussies of the national guard aren't real soldiers."
Man, I really don''t like that guy.
Ah, yes. But what if we distain, are ashamed of, belittle or hold a glaring light of truth to hubris--then are we okay? Hasn't sKerry mack the swift boat vets?
me, neither. he used to be bill clinton's bagman.
Damn, that's funny. I'd love to get my hands on some. I'd keep some 'Purple Heart' band aids in my section's M-5 bags and med supply box.
There are so many talented people on internet.
what eddie murphy movie did that line come from? I believe his actual laugh line was "There are so many talented people in the desert."
