TERRY MCAULIFFE, UPSET ABOUT DELEGATE BAND-AIDS [08/30 10:00 PM]
From the DNC:
Upon hearing of multiple news reports that GOP delegates are belittling the injuries soldiers sustained during service by wearing band-aids with purple hearts, DNC Chair Terry McAuliffe issued the following statement:
"It is inexcusable for a Republican delegate to mock anyone who has ever put on a soldier's uniform. It is inexcusable to mock service and sacrifice. Our service men and women put their lives on the line every day. If they are wounded in the line of duty it is because they are fighting on the frontlines for freedom. Anything but complete respect for their service is unacceptable.
"Mindful of the fact that over 3700 purple hearts have been issued during the Iraq war so far and none of us know how high that number will climb, I call on John McCain and Rudy Giuliani, before they speak, to tell their delegates to disavow these tactics. I call on these two men to use the power of their positions to tell their delegates that service matters, sacrifice matters, and that no Republican delegate should ever mock the service of our soldiers."
I see absolutely no benefit to Kerry or the Democrats from this particular rapid reaction statement. Everyone with functioning brain cells can tell that these band-aids are meant to mock Kerry, not "belittling the injuries soldiers sustained during service."
Hey, Terry, if it's "inexcusable to mock anyone who has ever put on a soldier's uniform", would that include the Swift Boat Vets, too?
I was in the service, and I'll belittle anyone I want you d**ckhead.
I'd say it's almost 40 years too late for you to start in with the empty words about "respecting" our soldiers, Terry. You and your friends showed us how you really feel about them when you spit on them, threw urine and feces on them, and called them "baby killers" when they returned from Vietnam, after your current presidential candidate sold them down the river so he could start building his political resume on their corpses. And then he padded that resume by scamming the system out of Purple Hearts for "injuries" that were less severe than some of the cuts I've gotten from shaving.
So put a sock in it, Terry.
BTTT
They are only mocking Kerry, not our troops.
The truth, which is unknown to Mcauliffe, is that
Kerry is the one who has degraded that award by seeking the Purple Heart for "owies"
Nah...
It's Jan in the Pan!
She's beautiful; she's single; and, best of all -- after she and Cleland spend a quiet, romantic evening watching Boxing Helena together: she even makes her own GRAVY! :)
Rudy at the convention talking about Kerry's voting record on funding the Iraq war. "He still has time to change his position 4 or 5 more times!" Kerry's voting record is a real obscenity and insult to veterans.
Too funny!! Delegates sporting band-aids with Kerry's PH on them and McAwful gets his knickers in a twist.
What a hoot!!
Oh put on sock in it McAwful. Your whole party mocks the miltiary.
Did Ed Gillispie make any noise about all the FILTHY things that kerry delegates wore???????? I think not.
Make no mistake. This is a poke in the eye of Kerry, and Kerry only. Everyone knows it, including Teri.
Let the whining begin!
What a grat night to be a Republican!
Let the whining begin, Bring It On!!!!!!!!
Hahahahahahahahahahaha

Apparently he hadn't seen Kerry's 1971 speech.
ping
I think you're right. Kerry couldn't get rid of all of the copies of the original source documents, those lying forgeries cooked up on his very own typewriter in Viet Nam.
more from the AP :
NEW YORK - A GOP delegate handed out bandages with purple hearts on them Monday night at the Republican National Convention in a swipe at Democratic nominee John Kerry (news - web sites)'s war record, but national GOP officials have asked him to stop.
The bandages were handed out by Morton Blackwell, a longtime GOP activist from Virginia, with the message: "It was just a self-inflicted scratch, but you see I got a Purple Heart for it."
Kerry won three Purple Hearts, a Silver Star and a bronze star for his service in the Vietnam War. A group calling itself Swift Boat Veterans for Truth has been attacking Kerry as a liar through campaign ads and media interviews, but Kerry's wartime experiences have been backed by crewmates and official records.
"It is inexcusable for a delegate to mock anyone who has ever put on a soldier's uniform," said Democratic Chairman Terry McAuliffe. "It is inexcusable to mock service and sacrifice."
Blackwell, who gave out almost 250 of the bandages, said Vietnam veterans have every right to be angry about anti-war comments Kerry made after returning to this country.
GOP Chairman Ed Gillespie spoke to Blackwell and they agreed that he would not distribute the bandages Tuesday night," said Republican spokesman Jim Dyke. "This was not a party activity, but he was acting as an individual."
