There appears to have been a major shift in the last month in the U.S. presidential campaign from KERRY-IN-THE-LEAD to BUSH-IN-THE-LEAD.
And this, before the GOP Convention has really gotten underway.
It seems that Kerry supporters and Bush haters are becoming increasingly strident, stressed, psycopathic and perhaps even violent in some cases. Have you personally noticed this in your town and community?
.....Because of TeRAYyza's very public meltdown, the SwiftBoatVets, Unfit for Command's booming national sales, devastating Swiftee TV ads in battlegrounds states, and the Kerry slip in the polls?
Consider:
--A young Bush campaign supporter was sucker-punched yesterday at a Washington State political event by a Kerry supporter--right on national TV.
--Freepers report Kerry-ite "flip- offs" in traffic(middle finger salutes), increasingly desperate and irate liberal emotions, foul language, verbal abuse when they peacefully display pro-Swift Boat vet or anti-Kerry stickers on their cars.
--The national TV reporters and commentators who side with Kerry seem almost apoplectic on TV these days, babbling, whining, salivating and doing everything short of cursing or throwing ashtrays.
On this FR thread, kindly please related your own personal experience on cases of strange behavior by libs and Kerry supporters that you come across. It would help to know the "what", "when", "where" and "why", too. Perhaps there is a national sickness developing in over in the Hate Bush camp, as they see their lead evaporate and their chances of capturing the White House fade. They seem to have only have nasty, threatening and sometimes violent means to turn to now. Would you agree?
If it wasn't for your safety in the USA and your ability to make enough money along with the tax cuts Bush put into place, would these ingrates even have a place to go to which willing takes them in and gives them comfort?
Ungrateful is the word that keeps repeating and repeating in my ears.
LOL oh the thoughts ive had!
I wont allow it in our living quarters but how it happens is they sit out on the back porch and smoke so if we just happen to need to go to the laundry room or just out back its like they are sitting in wait for one of us. then they pounce. they do not say a word to me but boy my poor hubby. it will come to a head sooner rather than later and its going to get messy I think.
Very encouraging, but not surprising. I've been noting on many threads that our union relatives in the swing state of Ohio have already put their support behind Bush--they even sent an "America coming together" lacky with his head held low one day when they showed up door to door. Apparently to many I know who are registered Dems(but not of the leftist variety) they see national security trumping anything else right now--they firmly believe that overtime, healthcare, and all those social issues won't mean squat if we are all dead or hiding in our homes because of terrorists.
It is no wonder that China and other countries are trying to ban the internet. Too much information gets to the populace that the leaders don't want disseminated.
By the next pres election in 2008, how much will newspapers have suffered in circulation losses?
"Suppose W wins, and wins by a substantial margin in November. Are these nutcases going to try to start a second civil war? Something to ponder, anyways."
I've been wondering about this since I got a call from the DNC, asking me to volunteer for the Kerry campaign. When I expressed the opinion that we Democrats had made a mistake nominating Kerry because of his various flaws as a candidate, the caller got really hostile, and warned me that "I would see what happened WHEN Kerry became President IN NOVEMBER..."
At best, a substantial re-election victory for President Bush looks likely. At worst, it may be close. But far too many Democrat operatives have been acting as if Kerry's taking office is a sure thing. I see three probable causes for this seemingly unfounded optimism:
1) They haven't got a clue as to the political reality.
2) They are aware they will probably lose, and are putting on a brave face.
3) They don't care how the polls are going, nor how the election will go, because they believe that "the fix is in," and they are going to take power this Fall no matter how the vote goes.
I am not sure if #1 or #3 scares me the most.
VietVet
Kerry
4 months for US
35 years AGAINST US.
You have every right to vent if you want to call it that. I don't live in the same place as my dad, who lives a mile away and lives alone ever since my step mother died. I did all kinds of errands for him, drove him around, and favors for him for one year plus. I got vileness from him and thanks from time to time. The more I did things for him, the more he figured I must be some kind of dim bulb for being so helpful. That's how some people operate but it's a shock to see your father go that way late in life. I had always gotten along with him.
These old coots have a way of pushing one's buttons. They can be geniuses at that. You mentioned smoking.
There are lots of well disposed old folks. My father isn't one of them. I told him to shove it last month. Time will tell.
If the President wins by a substantial margin, which I doubt, as I think he will win with a tiny majority in the EC, or Kerry will win, there will be no reason for a second civil war.
My mother lived in a senior apartment in Massachusetts.
The Democrats would visit at election time and bring all manner of food, music and attention along with a dose of hatred for the GOP and promises to all about more freebees if you vote Democrat. The election cycle would bring politicians that ignored the people almost all the time but they would appear like clockwork when election season came around. I found literature on my mothers doorknob that was
so outrageous and devious I saved it. It was from a Congressman McGovern in Worcester Massachusetts and it was a frontal assault on Republicans intended to "Scare out the Vote" This lying sack of Democrat scum actually hinted at the Republicans taking away the only check some of these people lived on month to month. That is how Democrats get the vote. They lie and scare the seniors.
We walked for five hours and only met two people who supported Kerry on our Democratic list! What does this mean?""
You got a bad list and spent your entire day going in circles? You are a true Dem. Never questioned what was happening until the end of the day.
"They were young and had nothing and they were going to support Bush"
They obviously are aware that they can work hard and keep more of their earnings and invest, etc, with the Republicans instead of being taxed for every possible reason under Democrat rule. Tax cuts are working, folks.
My kind of people, there is so much reality, who can keep up?
The population of our "metropolis" is 3113 Pubbies and three Libbers. The witch, her hubby, and the jackass who owns the ONLY newspaper -- even his wife and two children are Pubbie-converts.
Our newspaper is a weekly with two reporters-saleswomen-clerks-grunts. One covers the sports scene and area Fishing Reports and the other travels from one retirement home to another reporting on deaths, birthdays, anniversaries, and who started taking Metamucil.
But, hey, I heard we "might" get a WalMart in 2008 or 2009. THAT was the big news for us in 2003 . . . the mayor drove to Bentonville, AR to "press our case." Some say he even got to talk to a secretary at WalMart.
Well said. Totalitarians from Beijing to Berkeley hate and fear the net as a de-centralized, uncontrollable medium. In those places where they cannot impose legal control, the authoritarian media are doomed. This is why the demonization of resources like Free Republic is a major pre-occupation of the Left. I predict that a Kerry administration, in the usual guise of "protecting the children" will begin a major push for regulation of the internet. It is a matter of life and death for the LLL.
By the next pres election in 2008, how much will newspapers have suffered in circulation losses?
If Kerry wins, authoritarian rags like the NYT and the WaPo will be back in the dominant position they enjoyed during the hedyday of centralized media power, the 1960s.
May be its a good thing they live with us instead of in a senior home.hehe. they dont get much propaganda in the mail here.
The light came on and she said, "Oh, NEVER MIND!"
BTW, speaking of going ballistic...I'll bet Phil Donahue is about ready for a straightjacket by now.
Suze, you gotta do something about this or your marriage will be toast. Filial piety should not extend to sacrificing one's whole life. How many Dear Abby's began... "My parents/in-laws made us swear never to put them in a home, so now... etc. etc.
