There actually were Bolsheviks at the march yesterday. More properly, there were Bush supporters who dressed as Bolsheviks. They had put together some brilliant signs, illustrated in Soviet realist style, showing John Kerry wielding a worker's hammer, depicting Marx, Lenin, Engels and Kerry in heroic profile. The signs were emblazoned "Communists for Kerry," and "The next generation building communism for America."
"We're just spoofing," one of the men told me. They'd linked up on Free Republic, the ultra-right-wing Internet site and, well, when these people link up, stuff like "Communists for Kerry" is one of their more polite ideas. They slipped into the march and nobody seemed to notice, object or recognize that they weren't actually communists and weren't actually for Kerry. Many of the signs yesterday said, "Bush Lied," but when his supporters do it, it still works.

Oh, man ... that was GREAT!!! What's really telling about those pics is that the spoofers are the ones with the twinkles in their eyes, and the liberals are dour and humorless. That tells me who's winning, who's hip, and who's going to connect with the younger generation. Good riddance, liberalism.
Anyone who has not done it yet, click on the link in post 9. DO IT!!!

It would be a hoot if we could plant about twelve marchers with signs that said "WORLD COMMUNISTS PARTY FOR KERRY." This would be real street theater men in soviet style military uniforms with short cropped haircuts and jackboots. They would have to be at least six feet tall. On their arms would be the hammer and sickle banners. Two of the men would carry an eight foot banner saying: "Official Sponsor of Communist For Kerry Rally."

We could try for "ULTRA" with a star, Or maybe a "V".

You expect people who do *this*
"After shouting at a knot of Republicans who stood outside Madison Square Garden, the marchers shouted at a billboard. Fox News had taken out a big ad on the corner and the marchers screamed "Fox lies" at it for a while. Turning the corner by Macy's Department Store, they discovered a huge video screen streaming the Fox News report. They yelled at it, too, until a roar of approval went up as Fox broadcast the protesters live. They watched themselves on TV, then moved on."
to recognize the stinging wit of an excellent satire?....LOL!
I laughed myself sick reading that part.
I mean, sure, I've spat the obligatory curse at the chair leg I banged my toe on or the hammer that mashed my finger, but I have *never* stood for a protracted amount of time and simply screamed at an inanimate object.
*whew*
I'm still giggling....;)
[in retrospect, perhaps it would have done me some emotional good if I'd screamed at a fencepost after Gore pulled his FL crap]...LOL!

"It was the last coherent sound from that corner of the march. Afterward, there was only the sound of whistles. Once there was a message. Now it is simply anger with a volume knob."
Doesn't that say it all.

After shouting at a knot of Republicans who stood outside Madison Square Garden, the marchers shouted at a billboard. And I wonder if they influenced the billboard to rethink its position? Man, what a bunch of mental incompetents...

They'd linked up on Free Republic, the ultra-right-wing Internet site Sounds....so...UN-progressive.
However, unlike liberals who have to invent new names for themselves every 4 years or so (liberal=progressive, homosexual=gay, pro-choice=pro abortion), I know of no one who isn't proud of being an ultra-right-winger or a Christian fundamentalist.

Many of the signs yesterday said, "Bush Lied," but when his supporters do it, it still works. Um... the folks dressed as bolsheviks were fakes, but it's not a lie -- the Communist Party of the USA has endorsed Kerry for President.
