MTV, ROLLING STONE and the rock and roll establishment -- past and present -- have cast their vote, and their man is John Kerry.
So on Sunday night when John Kerry's daughters were announced to speak at the annual MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS, the MTV youth were expected to welcome his daughter's as pop culture princesses.
Instead, in an era of the unexpected, the daughters of the Democratic candidate were met with a resounding wall of boos at the filming in Miami.
From the moment Alexandra and Vanessa started speaking, the boos outweighed anything close to cheers, and the reaction turned worse when the daughters asked the VIACOM youth to vote for their father. So shocked by the reaction, the taller of the two daughters tried to 'shhhhhh' her peers to no avail.
Developing...
That's all fine and good up until he pulled some legal and papal strings and made them BASTERDS.
This is rather shocking to me. If this is the true feeling of the MTV crowd, you can bet your --- MTV won't be rocking the vote, to get out the young voters this year. LOL
As for the daughters, I don't like to see them put in this positon. When Kerry and Edwards appear, they are fair game. When their family appears I would hope folks would be polite.
I don't want to see Laura Bush treated with disrespect. I don't want to see Kerry's kids booed either.
It's not the girl's fault that their dad is a jack---.
Hey why the long faces? HaHa
You made my night with that comment...
LOL I've never trusted that rock the vote effort. I suspect that behind the scenes they are registering as many democrats as they can, and perhaps one or two republicans.
Look, any time people start talking about getting out the vote, remember one thing. Democrats strive to register as many people as they can. They generally have republicans out-registered by 10 to 30%.
You tell me who an increased turnout is going to benefit.
They're adults. No need to cry for them.
Dems are getting a taste of their own medicine. God knows they asked for it.
Remember when Hillary got booed at the benefit concert Paul McCartney held for the NYC fire fighters and policement after 9-1-1?
Let me know how you like it when the Bush girls get a dose of this in public. I don't think it's a good idea to go after family members. It opens up a real can of worms.
But you see, I'm not always trying to be fair.
Voices on the right (young conservatives) ***.........Today, Rushing is chairman of YCT and a law student at Southern Methodist University. He says campus liberalism definitely prompts students to join YCT, observing that YCT's strongest chapters may be at the University of Austin and the University of North Texas - "probably the two most liberal campuses in the state."
Pro says most College Republicans he knows are also attracted by what they see as the party's apparent concern for the family and the family's authority.
"Those that I have spoken to seem to have a focus on increasing the influence of the family in everyday life," he explains. "Mom and Dad are to be respected. Education comes first from the home, then school. "
Late last week, a Manhattan meeting of College Republican campus chapter leaders looked like a cross between a corporate meeting and an early Monday morning class. Full suits and jeans were about equally represented.
.........But later, talk shifted from strategy to ideology. J. Stanley Oakes Jr., president of The King's College, reflected on the principles behind the students' politics.
"When you think about universal principles," he said, "my generation ought to be transmitting them to you and they have done a lousy job."
That failure to transmit values explains a lot about the attraction of today's youth to conservatism, says Thompson. He attributes his peers' conservatism at least in part to a general yearning for parental instruction.
"There's a lack of guidance out there for certain, out there among adults, that I think is a problem," he says. "People are getting kind of sick of this 'do what you want' kind of society." ***
1. They started booing when Bush daughters were introduced but kept booing thru the whole presentation.
(George Burns "When I worked vaudville I had to follow acts that were so bad, people were still booing them duriung my performance")
2. The audience thought Vanessa and Alexandria were the Bush daughters
3. Jeb Bush got a swag of tickets and planted Republicans in the audience
The nose actually reminds of a young Cher.
MTV probably wouldn't allow them in, but the Bush girls are a LOT cuter, anyway! They look like average wholesome American girls but Kerry's girls will not be cute when they age a bit.
I lived in Miami from 1999-2002. The western portion of the county was heavily Republican (big Cuban American population), while the northern portion of Miami-Dade (heavily black) and the beach (heavily Jewish and Gay) were extremely Democratic. The southern portion of Miami-Dade county was slightly Democratic. The County Commission was comprised of 7 Democrats and 6 Republicans. The county went for Gore 52%-48%, much closer than Palm Beach and Broward, which went for Gore overwhelmingly.

At this point, I'd like to suggest a new signature graphic for all the nice Kerry Kool-Aid Guzzlers, over at the Depleted Uranium site:
Please present it to them, with my most sincere compliments. :)
It was reported on another thread that MTV again edited out the boo's when they replayed tonight's award's show.
My fiance was telling me about this when I woke up for work tonight. She said it was hilarious.
Pinging!
I don't think I can handle 4 years of these two dopes in the public spotlight. (If Kerry wins)
