Hannity & Colmes: Bob Dornan shows US flag that Kerry's group burned while they flew 300 VC flags
self | Aug 27, 2004

Posted on 08/27/2004 6:22:46 PM PDT by Cableguy

Bob Dornan (R) and Pat Kadell (D) were just on Fox's Hannity & Colmes debating Kerry's predicament. Bob Dornan went on a savage attack, showing burned US flag and VC/Communist flags that were burned by Kerry's anti-war group in 1971. Dornan also wanted Fox to have anti-Kerry widows from the Vietnam war. Kadell was actually rational and his analysis I thought were excellent and on point. Kadell bascially said that Kerry/Democrats made a mistake making Kerry's Vietnam service the cornerstone of his campaign instead of talking about the issues.

Actually, we can do better than cheer. We can quietly and rationally point out to anyone who will listen that the anti-Kerry vets have an understandable antipathy toward him based on his libelous 'testimony' before Congress in 1971, and that that 'testimony' was the beginning of Kerry's consistent stance on defense matters ever since: just as he weakened America by giving the NV and VC a propaganda victory with his lies, so at every turn from then until the end of the Cold War his every policy prescription, near abolition of the CIA, subjecting American force projection to UN approval, advocated in his first Congressional campaign; his opposition to every phase of Reagan's defense build up which brought an end to the Cold War; his coziness with the Nicaraguan communists all weakened America and gave comfort, if not actual aid, to our enemies.

And, we can quote Kerry: he says he will lead in the War on Terror with 'the lessons he learned in Vietnam'. We can point out that this is precisely why he must not be elected President. Those lessons, evinced in his little discussed public life after returning from Vietnam are evidently to calumnate American troops when they are in the field, cut defense spending and weapons systems, cut intelligence capacity, and blithely offer our enemies diplomatic embrace as if doing so might make them into friends.

And when we say this, we probably should not be cheering for the Swifties openly, even though we thank them in our hearts, and perhaps gloat inwardly at their effectiveness: sticking to policy and Kerry's public record, thereby piling our critique on other matters on top of the Swifties' attack, will win more undecideds and (always a good bonus) annoy the left and keep it unhappy (as Buckley used to say).

And just think about how much the media had confused this issue of the campaign. Pat Cadell says perhaps the most basic and intelligent observation of the last month, and we all seem somewhat amazed.

The fact is, Cadell is 100% correct on this. It was an insanely stupid move to make the centerpiece of a campaign 4 months of questionable service in Vietnam, followed by years anti-war protesting. There's nothing more to say about it - it was simply a horrible strategic miscalculation on the part of Kerry.

"Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue".

I think the great Barry Goldwater was talking about being extreme in your principles, not your theatrics.

Hey, I liked what Dornan did, I just think it came across badly.

"No, he looked like a typical liberal, acting emotional and not reasonable or logical."

Dornan always talks that way. The information he provided was devastating. I don't think new viewers were worried about his demeanor. Besides, did you hear anybody challenge him on its truthfullness? He got alot of information out in a short time. On these talk programs, if you don't strike while you have the chance, you'll never get your point across. Dornan's an old timer. He's always enthusiastic and charged up when he's making a point. I'm not concerned about how he appeared. It's what he said that counted.

Does Bob Dornan seem like a sane man or a crazy man?

Bob Dornan is a very sane man. He is one of the few who will not accept the 'business as usual' bull$hit that comes out of Washington. While Dornan may be a bit outspoken, with whom would you trust the future of the United States, Bob Dornan who speaks his mind or John Kerry who pathologically lies?

I guess we'll have to disagree. As one who is old enough to have lived through the time of Kerry and his radical compatriots, nothing is to strong too express my loathing for them.

Did Dornan fly with the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds or did he ride with them?

Leslie Stahl flew with the Blue Angels, She didn't fly as a Blue Angel.

I don't know the answer to the question I asked but I have read that Dornan has enhanced his flight resume a bit.

No sane man will sit silent and let John Kerry become president, wouldn't you agree?

Dornan was a military guy also. He doesn't want to see the old fashioned soldier replaced with Kerry's "New Soldier".

Hi there, you are up late but who can pass this up? Bob Dornan was the representative in a district nearby here in southern CA and he could shoot from the hip - but always passionate about his beliefs and this country. He really got snookered out of his seat and it was and remains a shame. He's what we really need in DC.

Ex-Senator Glenn really ticked me off. He sat there smirking about how President Bush needed to stop the Swiftvets, but nary a word was said about Moveon.org or any of the 527's bashing and degrading the President.

What a sad sack! He sold his soul to Clinton during the impeachment and he's never gotten it back.

McGowan999, you said it so succinctly and truthfully.

I remember my many friends in high school who went to VN as fun loving, happy, young men and women anxious to serve their country. Those who survived came back to a country which disdained them and disavowed their sacrifices. They were emotionally and physically devastated, not by the enemies with whom they battled, but by their own countrymen. My friends who made the ultimate sacrifice, and did not return home, have never, to this day, been honored properly by Kerry and his ilk. Rather, they have been used for Kerry's political pandering and gain, as all the while he desecrated their memory.

How dare he profess to be a qualified, let alone deserving, leader for America. I truly never thought I could despise anyone as much as I do the Billary duo, but I do believe Kerry is as vile as they.

Dornan can get a bit emotional at times, but if the focus gradually shifts to sKerry's post-4 1/2 month "second tour after his five-week 'first tour'" (HAH! My Dad's 36 months there in three tours trumps that!), people will begin to see what a weasel sKerry is. Stay stuck on the days in the canals of RVN, and people will assume we're bashing him for not having "finished his tour," and the Rats'll dig up GW's ANG service (for the millionth time).

And honest he is---he said he like(d?) Kerry as a disclaimer.
And he was correct, there are many, many regrets. I have a feeling when he said "all" he meant the protestors.
And he may not have agreed with Dornan on some points, but I sensed a respect towards the POW/MIA wives & other victims of VVAW. Haven't seen one dem do that.

Howdy! I'm always up late. Can't pull myself away from the computer! Dornan's first love in the USA, and he'd protect her to the death. He's unwavering, tough and steadfast.

Actually, didn't he say, basically, it was time to move on. . .after Bob spoke about the POW wives and how they are ticked at Kerry?

What I am getting at, it appeared he was saying we should just forget about those POWs, that they don;t matter, after all, it happened so many years ago and so on.
