AH, REUTERS [Ramesh Ponnuru]
Doug Johnson, legislative director of the National Right to Life Committee, sent out a press release on the latest partial-birth ruling. Here's an email he got in response from Todd Eastham, the North American news editor for Reuters:
"What's your plan for parenting & educating all the unwanted children you people want to bring into the world? Who will pay for policing our streets & maintaining the prisons needed to contain them when you, their parents & the system fail them? Oh, sorry. All that money has been earmarked to pay off the Bush deficit. Give me a frigging break, will you?"
Please let me know if you want on or off my Pro-Life Ping List.
My e-mail to the nit-wit:
Dear Todd,
In response to the following:
Ah, Reuters (You won't believe this one!)

If I may be so bold:
"you people" eh eh ehhhh, verrrrrry condescending!
"Who will pay for policing our streets & maintaining the prisons needed to contain them" wo, are we speaking of human beings or animals here? Just a bit prejudiced and arrogant, ay?
"All that money has been earmarked to pay off the Bush deficit." Tsk, tsk tsk, sarcasm? Stick to the topic if you can manage your A.D.D. at all.
I would like to know what flavor of kool-aid you enjoy the most, as it is obvious that you have partaken of ALL flavors?
You know what we call people like that, here in Oklahoma?
TARGETS!
I work with a former Reuters middle east corr.
I've bookmarked this, and will show him this on Monday for his thoughts.
Appears very unprofessional to me.
Unbelievable! Saying that most of these children would wind up in prison....stupid fascist/socialist/liberal scum. And they're the ones who always do everything "for the children". They can go f themselves!
For those bleating about the "population crisis", I present an excerpt from Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol:
"I see a vacant seat," relied the Ghost, "in the poor chimney corner, and a crutch without an owner, carefully preserved. If these shadows remain unaltered by the Future, the child will die."
"No, no," said Scrooge, "O, no, kind Spirit! say he will be spared."
"If these shadows remain unaltered by the Future, none other of my race," returned the Ghost, "will find him here. What then? If he be like to die, he had better do it, and decrease the surplus population." Scrooge hung his head to hear his own words quoted by the Spirit, and was overcome with penitence and grief.
"Man," said the Ghost, "if man you be in heart, not adamant, forbear that wicked cant until you have discovered What the Surplus is and Where it is. Will you decide what men shall live, what men shall die? It may be that in the sight of heaven, you are more worthless and less fit to live than millions like this poor man's child. O God! to hear the Insect on the leaf pronouncing on the too much life among his hungry brothers in the dust!"
Scrooge bent before the Ghost's rebuke, and trembling, cast his eyes upon the ground.
In the world of the left, no aborted baby was good enough to live... The answer to his question is quite simple, if he'd only allow himself to see it, the added costs would be born by the added productive members born into a just society that values life, all life.
You already got a break Mr. Eastham. You weren't aborted. There are millions who you aren't willing to give that same break to.
I'm not sure the e-mail's actually from Reuters - it didn't blame everything on the Israelis.
Here's another piece of evidence: This is not only a rant in the sense that it's nasty and such, it's a rant because it goes off on a tangent. The text suggests he just was really ticked off to see anything from the NRLC, so he blasted them with general pro-death Malthusian spew rather than addressing the issue on the table. Sure doesn't write like an editor, either.
The editor of our hometown paper of record lost it on the phone with a local pro-lifer the other day, and for even less reason. He even accused said pro-lifer of "harassing" the newsroom secretary, even though she had just sent out a nice thank-you email to the pro-lifer for helping the paper out. Something about the current political/media market situation is driving these folks nuts.

Never thought of it that way! "We had to burn the village to save it." "We have to kill babies to save society." Yep, pretty similar.
You know what the most interesting thing is? The "village" quote was never said, it was something Peter Arnett made up, but the idea that killing babies will make America great, that's an idea that millions believe as gospel. Yikes!
Well, this is an argument for abortion I haven't heard before: Kill the babies so the government won't have to keep them up. While we're at it, how about killing all the dead-beat liberals so the government won't have to keep THEM up either!
The one thing that never ceases to amaze me , is that the more gruesome the procedure for abortion , the more the left supports it.They have gotten saline abortions and section abortion out of the limelight with this tactic though.
I've heard that phrase a lot lately.
You know the old cliche: He should be grateful his Mom never got an abortion.
Exactly. Imagine the reaction thirty years ago if some politician had said, "hey, I got this great idea for reducing crime and welfare and getting education costs under control: We just kill every third minority baby that's conceived in this country."
He would have been run out of town on a rail, if not worse. Yet that is the primary rationale for abortion among libs today, the semi-honest ones at any rate.
I especially hear a lot of it from doctors and nurses who are involved in delivering the babies of welfare mothers at the local county hospital. "So, doc," they ask "how do you feel about having to support the little ******* for the rest of their lives 'cause their illiterate Catholic mothers won't get an abortion?"
I don't think it will come to that but if it did, and the alternative is killing them, then, I, dammit, will pay. A welfare kid faces a bleak future, but many overcome this and become productive citizens, and you never know which one might be the next Einstein or Mozart.
"Pro-choice" is about racism and class warfare, with black, brown, and poor children as the prime targets. Since the abortion proponents are liberals, however, with the big welfare payoff to dangle in front of their victims, they get a free pass on it.
