Brit and Kerry have a semantic difference here. In April of '68 Kerry served aboard the USS Gridley a guided missile frigate, usually on plane guard duty in the South China Sea. It would have been here that Kerry heard the news of Dr.King's murder. While the implication is that Kerry heard the news while under fire in Nam he nevetheless was forward deployed when King was assasinated. Brit should be looking to break bigger stories. There's no story here and it makes Hume look far too antagonistic to Kerry. Something that could hurt his credibility when a mpre meaningful story arises.

Just like Clinton! Remember when there was a rash of church bombing in the south (most of which turned out to be phony)?
Well, Bubba goes in front of the NAACP and says something like, "Yes, I remember when I was growing up in Arkansas, and the terrible church bombings that occurred".
Of course, when someone went back and checked the record, they found no such bombings in Arkansas when Clinton was a child.
Same thing here. These guys lie even when they don't have to...

Kerry was on the USS Gridley at the time of MLK's assasination. I do believe that the Navy considers that to be "in country" even though they were off the coast.
Don't get too excited about this one.

I hate to say it, but Kerry was on the Gridley at this time, from February through May 1968, and the Gridley was stationed in Vietnam during some of that period. I'm afraid this may be a non-story.

If he was on the USS Gridley at the time off the coast of Vietnam on either North or South SAR or PIRAZ Station this would be a true statement. Of course he did (if I remember correctly) say in Vietnam not off the coast, but such 'nuances' are the stuff that endears him to the MSM.
He is just so......complicated only educated elites are able to understand him.
