In a major story on Special Report with Brit Hume, Major Garrett outlined in great detail what is known about Kerry's first Purple Heart. Among the most important details...
1. It is not clear there was enemy fire
2. The Kerry Campaign cannot deny it might have been self-inflicted
3. Kerry submitted himself for the award
4. The wound was treated with nothing more than Neosporin.
I am certainly not trying to support Kerry, but he apparently reported to the Gridley in February 1968. So when he talks about his crewmates, he's probably talking about on the Gridley. However, I don't think that the Gridley was anywhere near Vietnam in April, 1968.
Of course, those who heard the speech envisioned him in his Swift Boat.
Our grand daughter who is now 5 years old has been putting Neosporine on her boo boos by herself since she was 3. She doesn't want scars. So if she scrapes herself, she comes in and puts neosporine in her boo boos.
I suggest to Ta Day Saa that she apply some Ben-Gay to his poor little red a$$......it really inproves the flavor of stale rice :)
Here's the quote from John Kerry. It's in his biography by Doug Brinkley, Tour of Duty.
"I remember well April, 1968 - I was serving in Vietnama place of violence -- when the news reports brought home to me and my crewmates the violence back home - and the tragic news that one of the bullets flying that terrible spring took the life of that unabashedly maladjusted citizen."
Caught my finger between a rubber mallet and the edge of a tile of slate I was banging into the ground. You do the math, and while you're at it, wouldja mind putting me in for a Purple Heart?
The funny thing about the rice is how it brings back memories.
Where my grandparents lived in a semi rural area, there were a lot of feral cats and stray dogs. My grand dad would take the lead out of shotgun shells and replace it with rocksalt and brown rice with the hulls on it. One blast with that mixture brought about an incredible behavioral change. The blasted creatures would run to the section of land before stopping. They never came back.
I know it's Judicial Watch which has a less than stellar performance, but their case is presumably based on FBI files:
Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today released recently declassified documents showing that Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry accepted laundered contributions for his 1996 re-election campaign from the Communist Chinese government and that, in exchange, he may have arranged meetings between Chinese aerospace executives and U.S. government officials. Obtained from the FBI through Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act requests, the documents are related to the FBIs Chinagate investigation into the Clinton campaigns acceptance of contributions from Communist...

LoL... I've always loved those stories, too.
.
Well if you get a chance to see brokaws lead in, he says "bravely wounded Viet Nam war vet max cleland"...
NO JOKE !!!
He owes more than that, doesn't he? Didn't he have an obligation to fulfil in the Reserve since he bugged out early from Nam? I thought I heard Hedgecock saying something to that effect on Limbaugh's show today. And that there were no records of Kerry putting in the time required to meet that responsibility.
sKerry's whole house of cards is now falling rapidly.
Whether his lies about 'Nam, nefarious campaign practices (including his brother's own little "watergate" episode during sKerry's first campaign), trying to sweep his Liberal record out of sight, or trying to "avoid politicising" policy statements by revealing his plans so the American voters can evaluate whether they really want him as president... that campaign is tumbling down.
Now, it is only a matter of a short time before the rest of the Congressional Demodogs start attempting to distance themselves from his campaign...
.
The other vets are now coming out to take revenge on the man who helped cause them major pain during 'Nam. It is not just the SwiftVets any more. sKerry is toast.
BTW, Brit Hume replayed Letterman from last night....he said something like: "NY's a rough town....Kerry almost got another purple heart just trying to get to the studio"...to much laughter from the audience!
She is very aware of the scars on her Dad and Uncle, (my sons) and my face and our legs and bodies.
She is about as much of a dare devil as her Dad and Uncle where and accepts cuts, scratches and abraisions as part of life. She just wants the neosporin and band aid to prevent scarring. Apparently she saw the ad on tv and stop fighting her parents when they used post injury.
Now her 3 year brother who needs a mustard dispensing bottle wants Neosporin on his many self inflicted injuries.
Here's one for the little crybaby.
Would that be UNIT as in the Swift Boat unit reccords in Vietnam? Or UNIT as an acronym?
Either way, sounds like there may be some documents showing up soon.
I hadn't realized that Neosporin has been around since 1958.
Who makes Neosporin? bet their stock dips, just like the Dow tanked during the Dem Convention.
