Police suspect Moscow bus stop blast was terrorist attack
MOSCOW. Aug 24 (Interfax) - A senior police source said the bomb explosion at a bus stop in Moscow on Tuesday evening may have been a terrorist attack.
"The power of the explosive device was equivalent to more than 150 grams of trotyl [TNT]. The explosive device was stuffed with shrapnel," the source, who is an official with the city police authority, told Interfax.
He said the bomb went off at the moment when a bus was leaving the stop.

I just got home and just heard about the 2 Russian planes down. I have not had a chance to get through all the posts. Can someone fill me in on what they believe took the 2 planes down? - TIA

It's been appearing on the DoubleJetCrash threads, but I'd like to see a time line. Someone speculated that it was a piece of luggage with a timed explosive that somehow didn't make it onto an unknown 3rd flight.

I think this event was reported earlier today. I think it happened before the two jets went walkabout over Russia today.
Bad news for Putin, either way. Not a good day to be in his situation room.
2 planes crashes within minutes of each other and a bomb blast
Sounds like terrorism to me
But hey .. what do know :0)
The conjecture is that the planes were taken down by:
(1) Timed explosives;
(2) Passenger/Crew struggles with hijackers; or
(3) Russian Air Force aggressively responding to hijack signals.
Terrorism would be the safest bet, though you can't rule out a prank by teenagers who got ahold of some TNT.
First those 2 planes and now this? It looks like those Islamic terrorists are real idiots. Russia has historically not delt with terrorists nicely. Now with Putin in charge, this could get interesting.
Wait, Kerry told us that the terrorist threat is overblown and Dean says that this kind of news is "politically motivated." A group of self-serving political hacks wouldn't lie to us, would they?
Seriously, this is not something that I would wish on the Russian people regardless of how their government has behaved. Being a vicitm of terroism isn't something that anoyone would wish on someone. Condolences to the families of those who are lost.
No one has made any claims yet to taking the 2 planes down?
