The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Woman ships herself to Miami - in a crate
http://straitstimes.asia1.com.sg/topstories/story/0,4386,269375,00.html

MIAMI - A Cuban woman who shipped herself to Miami in a small crate will be allowed to remain in the United States, officials said on Wednesday.

The woman was found in the cargo area of Miami International Airport on Tuesday evening by workers with the cargo company, DHL, and handed over to authorities, the company said.

Said Mr Zachary Mann, a spokesman for the US Customs and Border Protection: 'The woman, a Cuban national in her 20s, apparently with the assistance of others, shipped herself to the United States from Nassau, Bahamas.'

The flight took about one hour, during which the woman would have been exposed to freezing conditions.

The woman was interviewed by US immigration officials on Wednesday and was set to be released after undergoing medical examinations.

'She will be paroled into the community,' said immigration spokesman Barbara Gonzalez.

Hundreds of Cubans try to migrate without papers every year to get from the communist-ruled island to Florida, using smugglers' boats or makeshift rafts. Cubans are generally allowed to stay in the country if they arrive on US soil, while those intercepted at sea are usually sent home.

Most travel by boat, and the US Coast Guard has detained 1,152 would-be migrants from Cuba so far this year.

DHL said in a statement it was investigating the incident. -- AFP, Reuters

I'd love to vist some parts of Canada, I hear Banff is amazing. Of course, much of Alaska looks as good or better than Canada from the pics I have seen. :)

The timeframe on the storm would be about 7-10 days from now if things keep up. It is doubtful that it would affect NY much at this point. It may be somewhere around FL/SC at this time next week though.

From all the Philadelphia accidents, it should invest in a
lot of tinfoil stock.

I think that we see more terror related/maybe stories from
Pen. than any other one state.

whatever you can imagine, it happens in Pen.

That is scary to consider...that becoming the case here. The cold brutal murder described in that account is usually perpetrated here only by pathological killers, drug cartels, mafiosa, and gangs -- not by forces propping up the government (or tyranny) in power.

Reality caused me to curb my appetite, not you, Ruth. :)

I hope Theresa is well these days. How is she doing?

That was my mistake - that's Philadelphia Street in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. A tractor trailer filled with unknown explosives on fire. There's also a hazmat incident in Bayonne, NJ - tank leaking methane gas.

She sounds like a real problem solver, that one!

Just the other day, I was thinking about that guy who shipped himself in a crate or box within the U.S. last year I think it was. I wonder if the Cuban woman heard about that story and decided that was the best way to make it here on U.S. soil without being sent back to Cuba.

Also, I wonder what address she or others put on the crate and in the DHL paperwork. Where did she intend to ship herself to? LOL.

When I first read the story I too thought about the man in the crate. It's funny -- our minds are full of the same terror-related information that we sometimes have the same thoughts.

Here's an old article, but still very relevant:

Are they Invading or Assimilating?

We have the laws on the books, but why don't we implement them, especially in these times when terrorism is of such grave concern?

I, too Googles cyanuric chloride, but added 'weapons' to the search. Two interesting results: First, according to some explosives discussion boards, it's used in a process to make an explosive clled PL-1. Second, it's a decomposition product of some cyanide-related suffocation agents which were made as potential chemical weapons by the Allies in WW II. Conceivably someone has a manufacturing process which reverses the decomposition, but there is no reference to it in a Google search.

Lane said Nasser thought the camp's intent was to teach people to defend Pakistan against invasion by India, and left after three days when he realized its true intentions.

Nasser's wife, Farida Mommandi, and 9-month-old son, both U.S. citizens, live in Denver. She did not immediately return a telephone message, but Lane said she had no immediate plans to travel to Pakistan with their son.

If you'd like me to look for 'em I'd be happy to.

Let's wait and see. Early reports on things like this are always sketchy. The thing to watch for is when the Russkies start doing the "cover-up" tap dance. They're pretty good at that, all that time with the commies seems to be inculcated into the system. They may not want to be embarassed on a global scale, or they may have ummmmm other motivations. That's the thing to watch. Right, judicial meanz?

Thanks for your post.

Carnegie Police, Health Dept. Investigate Strange Odor

CARNEGIE, Pa. -- The Carnegie Police Department reports that they have received several complaints about a "strange chemical odor" in the area Tuesday.

Fire and ambulance units were dispatched to two locations on Tuesday to investigate. The first location was Washington Avenue; and the second was 3rd Street. The origin could not be determined and the odor dissipated. Police said Heidelberg Borough had similar complaints earlier in the day.

The Allegheny County Health Department responded to the Carnegie area to investigate.

Police recommend that you ventilate your home or business by opening doors and windows if the odor is still present.
