I have to agree. Even if the security is impossible to breach, they have to take the shot....if they've got the means to carry it out. That way, if they are successful, they can crow to the Islamic world they struck the Great Satan when he knew they were coming and prepared, yet with the help of Allah they were successful. Thus 911 is no longer just a lucky sucker punch. Even if they are totally unsuccessful and the attack is stopped, if the nuke is revealed, it still accomplishes nearly all their goals. Especially in the long term. If they have ONE, perhaps.....in the minds of many.....almost certainly there are more.
Wow, a cane already! I've been out of the house the past 24+ hours, moving into a new apartment and spending some much needed beach time. Time to catch up... I will likely begin focusing on the storm in the coming days and will post links to whatever I create.
Commission checking info about woman passenger from plane crash
GLUBOKY (Rostov region). Aug 26 (Interfax) - The government commission investigating the two Tuesday night air crashes is checking, among other things, reports that none of the relatives of a woman passenger by the name of Jabrailova have inquired about her after the Tu-154 airliner crashed in the Rostov region, said Transport Minister Igor Levitin, who heads the state commission investigating the air crashes.
"We are now checking on all possible scenarios for this tragedy, including information that none of the relatives of the Tu-154 passenger Jabrailova have been looking for her," Levitin told reporters on Thursday.

God Bless you to AD, hope your project goes well. I will be looking forward to seeing you post frequently again. You will remain on the ping list forever, even if you want off! ;-)
I was surprised to see what has happened to it since yesterday when I returned home this evening.... it looks like a biggie. It's taking an andrew-like path thus far, hope that changes.
Good, a sane article. My first sane read of the day. :(
great list all4one, thanks.
2005 will be interesting.
Sobering and sickening.
Well, I think they are idiots as well... I guess we are even. ;)
If you are interested in following the storm closer, you should sign up here:
http://www.easternuswx.com/bb/index.php?showforum=15
I helped start the site 2 years ago and it's a great place to get good info on things weather (especially on the East Coast). We have a few pro meteorologists posting there now. Their take (I have not looked close enough yet) is that the storm will affect the SE or swing through the gap between the US and Bermuda. I guess it all depends on how fast it gets to the US. A trough is likely to sweep into the region by about day 7 (next Thursday).
Does everyone remember the weird story Tues. about the Hindi guy involved in the car accident who tried to bribe the crash victim, and upon learning the police had been called, ingested the chemical substance in his possession?
Well, I did a little more "googling" on the chemical compound (cyanuric chloride) and thought some of you might be interested in the results.
PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE: colorless crystals, with pungent odor
CHEMICAL DANGERS: The substance decomposes on heating producing toxic and corrosive gases. Reacts violently with water producing CYANURIC ACID (see my notes at bottom), hydrochloric acid and heat. Reacts with methanol, dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide and 2-ethoxyethanol.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS: not established.
ROUTES OF EXPOSURE: The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation and by ingestion.
INHALATION RISK: No indication can be given about the rate in which a harmful concentration in the air is reached on evaporation of this substance at 20°C.
EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE: The substance is severely irritating to the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. Corrosive on ingestion. Inhalation of vapour/fumes may cause lung edema (see Notes). The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated.
EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE: Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization. Repeated or prolonged inhalation exposure may cause asthma.
NOTES: The symptoms of lung edema often do not become manifest until a few hours have passed and they are aggravated by physical effort. Rest and medical observation are therefore essential. Immediate administration of an appropriate spray, by a doctor or a person authorized by him/her, should be considered. Anyone who has shown symptoms of asthma due to this substance should avoid all further contact. The symptoms of asthma often do not become manifest until a few hours have passed and they are aggravated by physical effort. Rest and medical observation are therefore essential. Reacts violently with fire extinguishing agents such as water.

Here's what I found out about CYANURIC ACID:
A polymerized form is known as Cyanic acid (also called fulminic acid), and is an unstable (explosive), poisonous, volatile, clear liquid.

There is no way this guy didn't have bad intentions for possessing this chemical compound. I think the fact that it has legitimate usages (as a component of fabric softener) in his area of expertise (he was getting his Master's in Fabric and Textiles) just made it more plausible for him to have it in his possession. Heaven only knows what he was going to do with it. But instead, he cooked his own insides with it. Last report said he is still among the living.
I've seen several articles since that one linked above (with MANY variations of the spelling of her name) and now they are saying that her body/remains has not been claimed by family members (the only one)...the term used (body or remains has varied) so she definitely seems to be confirmed dead, and that was how she came to their attention (lack of any inquiries by family). That suspicion about lack of question, combined with women basically being able to get through security with an explosive belt being likely b/c women are seldom frisked there, seemed to make them sound awfully confident that this lady is somehow involved. Also read that several airports were admitting to not having metal detectors b/c they blocked the front areas of the airports and they were "in the way"...FNC was having a field day with that earlier today (those were Russian airports largely for domestic flights).
The drunk group, an article earlier today, made it sound like the author thought they couldn't have chosen a better time to have gotten drunk...that because of it they were denied boarding and were alive. It didn't look like, at least in that article, there was any connection really being looked at as far as them having somehow been tied to the crashes, that they just were "lucky" to have had too much to drink (per that account).
I don't know...just how I read the articles earlier today. If you'd like me to look for 'em I'd be happy to. Otherwise I'm sure later today one will probably come out with newer info but including both those above situations, in which case, if not posted by someone else, I'll post that instead! :-)
Or possibly the hatred in his mind shows on his face?
