Seldom post to forum, but wanted to share my outrage at Hardball's Chris Matthews' mistreatment of Michelle Makin. Sorry if format may be inappropriate. I fired this e-mail off to CNBC tonight:
The absolute low point in my TV viewing experience was watching Chris Matthews badmouth Michelle Makin on Hardball tonight. My wife and I watched last Thursday when Chris (who apparently had not read “Unfit for Command”) tried repeatedly to twist the phrase “self-inflicted wound” to mean “He shot himself on purpose to avoid service”. He badgered his guest with the unfair question “Are you saying He shot himself on purpose to avoid service?”. Ms. Makin never said it. Chris Matthews said it over and over and over again. In an outburst of talking over Ms. Makin in her attempts to answer his spittle-laden rapid fire manic mantra, Chris Matthews succeeded in out-parodying the famous SNL parodies of Hardball.
Expecting an apology to Ms. Makin, (Chris was AWOL from Hardball on Friday) we tuned in tonight and were saddened to see that he derisively mangled her name and repeated his dishonest and dishonorable charge against Ms. Makin.
MSNBC should increase his meds, or change the show’s name to “SLIMEBALL”.
I'm sure Mrs. Malkin would appreciate a copy of your note.

I also heard him knocking her on tonight's show. Such a petty, bitter creep.
I hope your letter wasn't misspelling her last name as we see here. The letter is good otherwise.
Another idea is to simply do what 99.9999999999% of America has done and tune out the show.
That slimeball has no class whatsoever. I saw a piece of the video, with him helling at her and baloney shrapnel flying out of his mouth. I wish she had busted his teeth with a shoe!
I listened to th einterview on Rush's web site (I'm a member) and it made my blood boil. What a pathetic worm that guy is! He was putting words in her mouth and not letting her even come close to answering any questions. CREEP!

Make that "yelling", though the typo does seem to be fitting as well.
I watched tonights show. First he didn't even talk about the argument until halfway throught he show and next he was pretty cheeky the way he pretended he didn't even know her name ("....or something.....")...........What a freakin' professional.
As did I. Michelle is always brilliant and coherent. Matthews only aspires to be - his delivery leave much to be desired. Being known for beating people up is cool. When they don't deserve to be beat up and the show looks like a gang member attacking a teacher or a large man attacking a girl, then it is not very cool.As I have said in earlier threads, Chris has lost me. I can't watch Beanball since I don't have cable or satellite. I have previously made it a point to catch his Sunday morning NBC show, a decent version of talking heads. No more. I'm boycotting the gent wherever he appears now. He was no better than Carville or Davis on their very worst and most hateful days.
Why did you write it to CNBC? Hardball is on MSNBC.

On your show tonight, I heard you suggest that Bob Dole's first PH was due to a self-inflicted wound. Are you saying he shot himself on purpose? I'm asking you a question DID HE SHOOT HIMSELF ON PURPOSE? No one has every accused him of shooting himself on purpose. I want a statement from you right now....
Matthews has gone insane. (He has to do everything Gore does).
Well done, Gorilla! Send it. And send it to the MSNBC bosses too.
I saw the show when Matthews accosted Michele and then again tonight when he misrepresented the encounter dealing with the "self inflicted wound". He failed to mention that he was the one who talked about "shooting himself on purpose"
Chrissy is not really very smart and I think he will become "dead meat" even on that small show after this miserable display of ignorance.
Not bad. Chris Matthews has the classic symptoms of a mental disorder known as ''disassociative resonance''.
He hears Michelle say ''self-inflicted'' injury and interprets it wrongly as ''intentional injury''.
Only electro-shock therapy can cure the condition.
