McCain is 68 years old right now.

WOW! That is OLDER than I thought. That means he will be 72 in 2008. That PLUS the skin cancer makes it tough for him to run then.

How about a Romney/Rice in 2008?

Rice has never held any elective office before. Appointed staff positions are different.

As a Nebraskan, I'd never vote for Hagel. I'm for Rudy.

There are a lot of so-called conservatives at FR who believe that going out of their way to bash Hispanics (they're not racist, of course... sigh...) is a good way to get conservatives elected.

Dumb idea. Plus the MOST CONSERVATIVE person I ever knew was of Mexican descent. In fact he was definitely a mestizo type with Indian blood. He made me look like a....John Kerry.

Website seems to indicate his concerns are about illegal immigration.

I'm sure it does. I never claimed he was stupid.

He [Tancredo] has a considerably greater chance than Santorum, whom many people here say is electable

Both are equally unelectable IMHO. I predict neither will even run.

Now this is interesting. Could you share with us how you're able to read his mind?

Pretty simple actually. When you ask him if he's for allowing Mexicans to immigrate freely to the US as we can freely travel there, you quickly find out that he's not just opposed to "illegal" immigration (therefore making the "illegal" adjective a red herring... but a clearly effective one in certain crowds).

The Constitution Party. Now, there's a parrty of principle!

Nonsense!!! This is the party of kooks. I used to be stupid enough to contribute my hard-earned money to them. Then came the last election and I saw Phillip's ads AGAINST Bush--not Gore and then I realized these guys are only doing this for ego trips.

If they're serious about actually improving this country, they need to have the guts to run in Republicans primaries.

So because he's not in favor of further liberalizing our immigration laws, he's "strongly opposed" to immigration? That's some pretty bizarre logic. Likewise, people who favor keeping government within its constitutional bounds must be "strongly opposed" to government.

So because he's not in favor of further liberalizing our immigration laws, he's "strongly opposed" to immigration? Well... he's opposed to it enough to want to create massive federal government programs and spend billions of dollars on those programs in order to stop immigration from Mexico. Yeah, I'd say he's "strongly opposed" to it.

Which "programs" would these be? The Border Patrol?
