However, the consequences of such a significant troop withdrawal have a couple of downsides, too, most of all for the Germans. One mostly overlooked but important side effect is the departure of the US troops themselves. With their visible presence of African-Americans and immigrants from Asia and Latin America, they enriched the German shopping malls and restaurants, representing a multi-ethnic society. If they are gone, German society will lose a bit of color, so to speak. This step will play into the hands of right wing xenophobes whose aim is to purify the German nation. Here, by accident, the goal of the Neo-Nazis and the one of the German socialists coincides.

I for one do know the difference between movies and reality. What I'm talking about is Cultural Imperialism. It's a nasty little habit that spans the whole spectrum of our society. We use our client states as guinea pigs to experiment on and to showcase with no risk to us some of our more extreme social engineering.

The Pershings won the cold war, canned the Soviet Union, and exposed the total innanity of the worldwide perennial lefty protest life style/ personality disorder. We owe you for that, and to Reagan who put you and the missles there. And now we're done. Well Thanks, but a couple of corrections if you don't mind. We (Pershing) didn't win the cold war. We were a part of it but so were thousands (millions) of our brothers who were ground ponders, artillery, armor, and even a few marines, navy and air force.
President Reagan sent the third generation of Pershing to Europe, his administration did not dream it up. President Nixon was in office while I was there and I believe Johnson was there when Pershing first went to Germany.

Then maybe you should worry more about the CULTURAL IMPERIALISM of the MUSLIMS if you're so worried about the cultural purity of PARIS.

They honestly seem to think that the world's ills are due to the evil US imperialism.

They don't understand the power of the dark side.

Look I'm an immigrant from Colombia. I saw how the degenerates started the drug trade. Then the right started the war on drugs. The battlefield and the casualties were not our American homeland. Is there a better way? It's okay when the ravages of our little ethical disputes are sorted out in some sterile petri dish. But, cruise ships won't stop at my birthplace of Cartagena anymore, too dangerous. So let's light up another one.

United States troops are in Germany to protect Western Europe from the Soviet Union, which is a threat that no
longer exists. US troops are not in Germany to provide the Germans with a multicultural experience.
There is no doubt that extremists groups from the right side of the political spectrum will cause trouble, but this is a police matter. Besides, the idea that the Fat Hen could morph into a Fourth Reich is preposterous.

It's okay when the ravages of our little ethical disputes are sorted out in some sterile petri dish. Sorry to hear about your former homeland. I am not an interventionist, nor an isolationist. Those little ethical disputes affect all of us - my neighbors (our neigborhood is 90% military) are the ones being deployed and TDY to those "petri dishes". Some were stationed in Germany, and our departure is not "the right to dictate what should be the optimal ethnic mix of their societies". On one hand it seems you complain about us being there, and then about the results of us leaving.

Personally, I think the world could USE a little "Pax Americana", especially in places where they send their children in suicide rigs to blow up school-buses.
Or where they industrialize terrorist training and then EXPORT it.
Or simply make death and nihilism a way of life.
Makes me want to air-drop Nikes and Game Boys in some places.
Give them something BETTER to do.
Sometimes, Rome was RIGHT.
