Swiftboat Veterans for the Truth spokesman John O'Neill dared Sen. John Kerry on Sunday to sue him for libel if, as Kerry's presidential campaign maintains, key claims in O'Neill's book "Unifit for Command" are not true.
"I invite him to sue me for libel," O'Neill, who co-authored the overnight bestseller with Jerome Corsi, told WABC Radio's Monica Crowley. "If he was actually in Cambodia on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day he should sue me. If, in fact, those other five [Swift]boats, on March the 13, [1969], if they all fled like he did, instead of staying like he knows they did, he should sue me."O'Neill continued:
"If he didn't wound himself with a grenade - causing sort of a rice-fanny wound - and then reported it to the Navy as a water mine - if he didn't do that on March 13th should sue me."
O'Neill issued the challenge after noting that Kerry's campaign has gone to extraordinary lengths to supress the information in "Unfit for Command."
"On our first [Swiftvet] ad, he had two huge lawfirms send letters to every [TV] station, threatening to sue the stations themselves" if they ran the ad, the former Swiftboat commander told Crowley.
"The next thing he did was challenge the book's publisher, Regnery, indicating he would sue them if they continued printing the book," he added.
The bestselling author said that while Regnery declined to stop printing "Unfit," it offered to republish Kerry's 1971 book "The New Soldier," which chronicles the top Democrat's anti-war protests with a group bankrolled by Jane Fonda.
Kerry has declined to have "New Solidier" republished over the years and reportedly bought up most of the available copies in 1972, after his opponent in a congressional race used it to paint him as anti-American.
Truth is always a defense.
It sure does, deport. But to think there's a poster on this thread that thinks the Swiftees are being too hard and that it will turn people off.I think it'll be just the opposite. After all the trash that's been thrown at them from Kerry's camp and the media, they have every right to defend their honor.imho.
I think you've got the wrong Swiftee. I heard that O'Dell was on and that he was excellent.
The best explanation for Kerry's unusual state of mind while in Vietnam is that he smoked cigarettes made of local, non-tobacco herbs. One popular and legal Vietnamese herb in particular, dorkweed, is similar in appearance and odor to marijuana. And coincidentally, it causes mental problems, just like marijuana. Kerry might easily have smoked some of those, thinking it was a local brand of tobacco.
I've seen several posts from different threads and retired military(Army,Marine Corps)have wondered if the Navy have anything like a "Unit Report" the way their particular services have. Do you know? If so,it would be great if it could be released. Thanks.
Kerry said that the United Nations should have control over most of our foreign military operations. "I'm an internationalist. I'd like to see our troops dispersed through the world only at the directive of the United Nations."
Thanks Steel Wolf:

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!
You are correct!
Thats a big affirmative! Kerry's lawyers can threaten to huff and puff but that is as far as they dare go.
Well .. I was confident there were rules saying you can't file a suit one day and then change your mind the next. Filing a lawsuit is a serious business.
Mr. O'Neill is a GREAT WARRIOR!!!...and a great avenger!!
More importantly the Swifties could demand that sKeery product his military & Medical records to prove their statements false.....Something he's not about to do.
Oh yeah, Kerry will go for that! ;o)
Way to go, Regnery!
"Cajones de piedra" BUMP!!!
See if you can get the ISBN and Library of Congress numbers....there should be a copy in the Library of Congress.
All books published in USA reside there (except for shrillaries Wesseley thesis..../sarcasm)
We Are Waiting
Did Kerry commit war atrocities?
Did Kerry lie about "Christmas in Cambodia"?
Kerry's medals. Kerry returned from his 4 1/2 month stint in Vietnam with three Purple Hearts for wounds, a Bronze Star and a Silver Star for gallantry.?

You may be right. And that is a VERY INTERESTING idea I never thought of.
But in my searches, I came across this site: http://ice.he.net/~freepnet/kerry/
And as per THIS THREAD, the pointing domain is http://www.wintersoldier.com (in other words, an address mask).
If you cannot access the text you are looking for from the above domains...than explore the Library of Congress. In the meantime, I've bookmarked your idea about using the Library of Congress for future reference. Just because I honestly never thought of that.
(ok...do I need to add that I'm blonde here? Cause I did not know what the LIC was for until I searched out this idea? Oh well, laugh...laughter is good)
Some good entrepeneurial publisher should be seeing dollar signs about now - Regenery or whoever.
The Library of Congress number is actually called the Library of Congress Cataloging Number...used to identify the book in the libray.
A third starting point is the Copy Right Office....they have details of copyright owner, author, editor, photographer, translator and other contributors involved in writing and producing the book.
You have more common sense than a lot of legislators.
