Subject: Sitting this one out
As a conservative, I have become increasingly disappointed at the leftward drift of the Republican Party under the leadership of George W. Bush. His monetary and immigration policies are prime examples.
I have come to the conclusion that he is, quite simply, unacceptable. Furthermore, the overall position of the Republican Party is too far to the left to suit me.
The argument that "the other guy is worse" is invalid. There is now such an indiscernible difference between the Republican and Democrat parties that it would make little difference who won the election.
You have not put up a good candidate since Ronald Reagan. I have held my nose and voted in the last three elections, but I can't stomach it any more.
Therefore, this year, I will vote for no Republican candidates at the national, state or local level. If I find an acceptable conservative 3rd party, I will vote for them.
If we lose the election, so be it. My prayer is that a sound drubbing will slap some sense back into the Republican Party.

"Haven't you been paying attention to the war on terror? If we lose that, we lose everything."
Just how do we "lose"?
Come to think of it, how do we "win"?
The opinion of "mr keller" is one that is being expressed by an increasing number of conservative, patriotic Americans. That is made obvious by the ever decreasing percentage of registered voters participating in national elections.
Labeling these people in a derogatory manner is childish and does nothing to address the problem.
I disagree. I always vote.
I may not this time.
LOL! Really childish; but, I did not expect better.
And Wayne that is exactly what the left wants you to do. I'm not going to get into a contest over who is more conservative - you or me - but I will tell you one thing, get 100 so-called conservativesw in the same room and you will have 100 different opinions. For me it's really quite simple, follow the Constitution to the letter and we don't have a problem except one: no one, and I mean no one who follows the Constitution, will ever get elected. Until we have a judiciary that follows and upholds the Constitution we will forever be expanding the scope and power of the Fed. This is why civilizations fail. We can hope that with a second term, President Bush will do what is necessary to reverse course. But we also know that if kerry gets in, we are in deep, deep kim-chi. You are in Ohio and we need that state as you are well aware. People said the same thing about clinton and look what we got. China received military secrets, North Korea nuclear weapons and the rise of al-Quaeda. Kerry would be worse. Remember also kerry's coattails could give us a socialist legislature replete with mandatory healthcare, tax increases guaranteed to make everyone but the elite class poor and maybe abolishing the Second Amendment. Remember Hitler and Stalin both assumed total power by collecting the firearms. That could be our future if kerry is elected. I'd rather hold my nose than forever be in a statist stench of kerry's doing.
Sorry it took so long to reply...I was talking to a real person elsewhere.
We are at war for our survival against bloodthirsty barbarians without and looney leftists within, and you want to just sit this one out.
Thanks for nothing, pal!
"A cowardly ally is worse than a crafty enemy."
Somehow, I doubt I will ever achieve the level you have mastered.
If you can't see any difference, it's likely because you don't WANT to see any.
From your finger tips to John Kerry's eyes! Just the kind of Republican the Demorats are praying for, a conservative purist!
It seems most people go through a purist phase in their political development. I sure did. In time, I learned that politics is the art of the possible, and it's not productive to your desired ends to disengage from the political process. For a conservative purist, the Republican Party is the worst party, except for the rest.
Politicians who are elected into office generally reflect those who put them in office. And I think you'll agree that the nation is somewhat split down the middle between conservatives and liberals, the remaining not being ideologically driven voters. Many factors allow elected Presidents to drive the country in one direction or another. The charisma President Reagan had certainly helped him to move the country in a conservative direction. Party control of Congress. The Economy, the state of national security. The list goes on. No factor being particularly definitive, but as a whole, still providing the President the opportunity to act.
This is one of the most important elections in recent history, and you will be doing yourself and your children a great disservice by disengaging at the very moment your vote means so much.
Actually, "thinking" is not a difficult skill to master....oops, I forgot who I was talking to.
That's the attitude. Keep working at it.
Indeed! Deserving of it's own thread IMHO!
It never has. Why do you think it will work next time around?
Idiots abound and, I fear YOU are one!
Bootlickers abound too, but I don't make hasty assumptions.
It looks like the President won't be able to count on their non-vote again this election.
kerry loses the war on terror
how do we "win"?
Bush wins the war on terror
