All you newbies whose screen number is over 100,000 (plus infinity, or minus a couple thousand), this thread is for you. What's it like to be 'new' here? Are you welcomed? What do you think of FR? Do you feel 'part of the gang'? This thread is for you. Lay it on us.

Sid Pusterfuss is an alter-ego I made up for myself. "Pusterfuss" is a great screen name. I surprised it wasn't taken until after 159,000 sign ups.

I've been here since May and have often found it difficult to get responses/feedback from most of my posts. You have to disagree with somebody to get a lot of responses. I'd say, 4 out of 5 times somebody responds, it's because they disagree. So you gotta say something like, Saudi Arabia should NOT be turned into a glass parking lot, or maybe Ronald Reagan wasn't all he was cracked to be. Stuff like that will get you responses.
Less common, maybe 1 out of 5 responses, are "atta boys" responses.
Also a winy post like yours on this thread will get ya some responses ;).

I proudly declare, I am freeper #151,138, a number that will be forever seared in my memory. (or tomorrow - whichever comes first.)

This is my first post. I've enjoyed reading (lurking) for quite some time. This is a very informative site and one of my favorites.

If you're using internet explorer, click on your screen name in one of your posts, click on in forum, then read the numbers at the end of the string in the address bar.

LOL Viking Kittens!
As a FNG #139760 I haven't seen that before. THANK YOU.
I lurked here for a few moons, Found it at first looking for pics of Pres. Bush. I've posted a few times, nothing serious, I asked a few questions and have had a few replies. This is a fun place and I'm here everyday.
THANKS!

Free Republic is a great site. Most everyone offers sound opinions, and even in disagreement they offer reasoned thought.
There are many that tend to automatically equate conservative to the Republican Party. My own view is the Republican Party is slightly more conservative than the Democratic Party, and neither is conservative. That brings a lot of negative remarks. If a truly conservative political party ever established itself widely, the two current major parties would have to merge to survive.
On the plus side, I don't know that anyone has ever been barred from the site for being too conservative, nor even for not being a Republican.

I tend to agree with you.
I'd say that 90% of the comments that I post aren't responded to by other freepers who are on the same thread. However, that doesn't mean that no one actually reads those comments.
Just a few days ago, I posted a thread related to the upcoming "V-Day" festivities planned by Eve Ensler and her merry band of ill-informed, radical, feminist agitators.
Even though it only received about 150 responses, it was viewed-at least, according to the stats-over a thousand different times.
I try not to get too caught up in these flame wars, except to occasionally throw a stink bomb in the middle of them, thus unifying everyone-at least, momentarily-in their hatred for yours truly.
I like to think of myself as a peacemaker that way.

Alfred E. Neumann looks happy today.
He's been a member of FR since '98.
