Q & A: WHO WOULD JESUS VOTE FOR?

8/20/04

Issue: Bush should not be asking churches to run voter registration drives. Ministers should not endorse a particular presidential candidate.

Question: Who would Jesus vote for?

Answer: Jesus would endorse the more moral man.

Argument: Bush taking America to war with Iraq was wrong.

Response: Bush's war with Saddam was the removal of a government that threatened the safety of our own nation; a government that was willing to harm the United States and collaborate with other people who wanted to attack America as well as other nations. This threat has been recognised not only by President Bush, but also by President Clinton, John Kerry, unanimously by the U.S. Congress, and by the U.N. in Resolution 1441 and preceding resolutions. If you do not know this yet, you haven't been listening to News Talk Radio enough. President Bush's justification for a preemptive war is, "Terrorists and terror states do not reveal these threats with fair notice in formal declarations. And responding to such enemies only after they have struck first is not self defense, it is suicide." If you disagree with this policy and justification, the result could be hundreds of thousands of lives. That is irresponsible.

Argument: Bush killed innocent civilians in the Iraq war.

Response: George Bush made it clear in a public address viewed by the world on March 17, 2003 and again on the 19th that the target in this war was not the innocent civilians of Iraq, but that it was the dictator and government of Iraq. He said, "I want Americans and all the world to know that coalition forces will make every effort to spare innocent civilians from harm." No trustworthy, popular news source has made the claim that President Bush is ordering the targeting of Iraqi civilians because it can not be proven. In fact, the application of new military technology and use of covert intelligence as well as a sensitive assessment of the battlefield in Iraq has made it more difficult for American forces and safer for the Iraqi people.

Return Argument: Kerry is for abortion. Bush is not.

Question: What's the difference between war and abortion?

Answer: The difference between war and abortion is the prosecution of the guilty versus the protection of the innocent. Jesus would vote for the more moral man.

Closing: If you believe that nothing good has ever come from war, American History disagrees with you.

were he a citizen, wouldn't he?
he paid his taxes, didn't he?
is it not a citizen's duty to vote?
I don't think Jesus would intentionally shirk his duty as a citizen...

I think Jesus would vote, and tell you to pray and follow your own conscience. If you asked him what he thought of a particular candidate's positions, he would tell you what he felt he could. And no matter how you voted, he would still come to your wedding, turn the water into wine, and enjoy your company.

that is, unless you voted for John Effing Kerry.

My daughter asked me, "What would Jesus drive?"
I asked her what she thought Jesus would drive.
She replied, "A Chrysler, of course!"

Hey ... "God is in control" even if a man like Clinton gets in, right?

Between that and the fact that Christ's death absolves us in advance of any errors we might make this life ... even purposefully--like excluding the Creator from our marriage bed lest he Bless us with more kids than we think we can handle ... there's really nothing for Christians to worry about.

Maybe Jesus would vote for the candidate who's used his Holy Name most often. In which case, Bush definitely has the lead ... especially considering the fact his FIRST televised address relied so heavily on Scripture to bless his exclusive use of Excess Manufacture embryos (stamped with the proper killed-by date) for Human, er, Humanitarian Research.

The Bible is pretty clear as to what sort of car Jesus drove. In one of the gospels the writer said "Jesus and the disciples were in one Accord". Argument settled!

Jesus would not vote...

Perhaps not, but if He did, He, being God and incapable of sin, could not vote for the Babykiller Party.

Rev Al, Rev Jesse, Billygoat Clinton, John Fibs Kerry, and all the rest of the Rat crowd should not be preaching Democrat Platform policy "sermons", turning Communion into a photo op, then tell the members to register & vote, either.

Or is it only Republicans that should be barred from telling people to register?

If Jesus were to vote and His choice was between Bush and Kerry, I believe He would vote for Bush based on two issues:

1) I'm guessing that Jesus would be a pro-lifer and between Bush and Kerry, Bush is the pro-life candidate.

2) I believe that Jesus had a problem with evil. Based on their actions, Saddam and his kids were the very embodiment of evil. Bush, not Kerry and the Democrats, has shown no difficulty naming evil and fighting it. The Democrats couldn't believe Bush had actually said the word "evil" let alone named evil in our world.

I also believe President Bush when he says he is a Christian. Moreover, having beaten his alcoholism, Bush has proven himself and shown a maturity of character and spirit in a way that Kerry has not.

Jesus would not vote...

If they'd had voting when He was on this earth, I think He'd have voted. It's like paying taxes. Jesus said "Render unto Caeser that which is Caesar's." Voting's a duty - it's a privilge, but a duty as well.

Churches should be free to do whatever they want. They have free speech too.

They do?

Free speech is an individual right, not something granted to a entity.

The IRS, I think would disagree when it comes to politics, unless you are in a black church with Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton or Julian Bonds in the pulpit.

The real problem is that unlike with His creation, hypotheticals don't really work with Jesus. He is, as opposed to "could have."

How could God "vote" for a sinfull man?
