CINCINNATI John Kerry (search), telling fellow combat veterans he's their "true brother in arms," said Wednesday that President Bush's plan to withdraw U.S. troops from Europe and Asia would weaken U.S. security and embolden nuclear-armed North Korea.
~snip~
White House spokesman Scott McClellan noted that Kerry expressed support on Aug. 1 for possible redeployment of U.S. troops throughout the world, including in Korea.
Kerry foreign policy adviser Rand Beers said Kerry would consider moving some U.S. troops farther south on the Korean Peninsula to avoid a strike from the North. But he would not move them off the peninsula, Beers said, unless such action was part of a broader agreement with North Korea to scrap its nuclear program and reduce its conventional forces.

Large portions of the crowd applauded each of his many promises to protect veterans' benefits. Smaller portions vocally backed his points on Iraq and terrorism. Some veterans sat with arms folded, while others stood and clapped.
One man heckled Kerry, calling him a liar.

Those of us watching this morning noted the heckler and now I see a reference to what he was yelling, as none of us could tell.
At this point, Kerry would blast President Bush for having a bowel movement either before or after a meal.
I think Kerry wanted to move more troops to Europe, and shift the troops around in Korea... Kind of like someone fiddling with the stuff on their desk to look busy. Oh, and the additional troops to Europe would be his pay off to his German and French pals for them not supporting Bush.
Can someone help me out here?
Less than a month. It was on 8/1.
What a difference 2 weeks makes.
How can Jacques pretend to know what's going on, when he doesn't even show up for work?
I heard the rumor that Kerry was getting ready to advocate removing the troops from Europe as Bush has done, but Bush beat him to the punch, so Kerry and his staff decided to take the opposite position to avoid agreeing with Bush. I wonder how valid that rumor was?
David Drier just gave Chris Matthews pure hell about this matter.
So here are a few of the problems Kerry has with Bush's proposal:
1. It's too "hasty".
2. It doesn't take effect for a few years
3. The announcement was too vague to know what he meant.
4. Whatever he meant, it's BAD for us.
5. How dare we "unilaterally" decide to move our own troops?
Makes my head spin...
"Let me get this straight. Kerry wants to pull American troops from Iraq one year after the Iraq war and replace them with Germans. But 60 years after WWII, Kerry wants to leave American troops in Germany"
This is GREAT! The Bush Campaign should be saying this (or maybe Brit Hume...)

Well, it's relatively simple. Simply find out Bush's position on any issue and take the opposite approach. Then you'll understand how Kerry makes major policy decisions. He's nothing more than the anti-Bush. For example, Bush decides to pull troops from Europe, so Kerry wants to keep them there. On the other hand, Bush wants to keep the troops in Iraq, so Kerry wants to pull them out. It makes perfect sense once you understand the motives.
These moves have been in the works for years as part of Joint Military planning... The President just doesn't get a bug up his butt to move troops and close bases but the effect is excellent.. With Kerry denouncing this it leaves him wide open for the GOP to call him "Living in the Cold War era".... and "Not understanding the basics of GWOT"
This is the perfect set up and I hoped he would go on the record like this... wait for the slam because its coming soon.
Oh, I forgot one more: He's complaining about moving troops out of the immediate danger zone from a North Korean nuclear strike....not that he wants to use those troops to DO anything about the threat, of course. Maybe he'd just prefer to see our troops incinerated. After all, in his view they're all war criminals anyway....
Good! What did he say? Did he tell Matthews that this was yet another flip flop?
Back to Kerry's VFW appearance today, interesting that the heckler was yelling out "liar". We all wondered what he was yelling.
Well aren't you the handy freeper to have around!
Thanks!
I was listening with half an ear and not even looking at the tv.
Well well well
Not only did he propose this on 8/1, he had done so at least 2 previous times this year that Hannity has been able to find.
You, too! That is terrific.
I heard "ABC" and didn't know exactly what forum.
Thank you for capturing that!
One more thing this was also Kerry's big secret plan to get the Germans to commit troops to Iraq... Kerry's ace in the hole... bargaining with Germany on the troop moves to get them to throw troops at Iraq and The president just took it away from him.
