Kerry War Diary Exposes Purple Heart Hoax
Greg Garrison Show

Presidential hopeful John Kerry has based his campaign bid for the US Presidency on his Vietnam war-hero status and his three Purple Hearts.
On the Garrison Show (WNDE, Indianapolis) this morning, a guest announced that soon-to-be-released excerpts from a diary kept by Kerry will shed doubt on his first Purple Heart. Apparently, Kerry notes in the diary that he did not come under actual enemy fire until days after being awarded the medal.
The diary was made available to a left-wing journalist named Cockburn who was apparently more angered by Kerry's participation in various atrocities in Vietnam than by what the diary proves of Senator Kerry's allegedly "illegal" Purple heart commendation. The information has been sent to Drudge, Fox News, and various other news organs.

I'll watch for it but I won't hold my breath. Of course the Swift Vets stuff has taken off more than I thought it would too!

Well, I'll believe this post when I see the excerpts, and Kerry admits they're from his war diary. As it stands now, this story is nothing more than three layers of rumor.

Another excerpt from the Kerry Diary
Sept 3, 2003
Dear Diary,
Today I announced my candidacy for President of the United States. My childhood dream to be the next JFK is about to come true! I am going to make my Viet Nam experience the cornerstone of my campaign. Of course, I will have to embellish a little, but no one will be the wiser. I have asked Theresa for her financial support, but she told me to Shove It! But she'll come around when I win the primary. As far as a running mate, I already have my eyes on that John Edwards. Wow, what a dreamboat!!!! He is the gitchiest!!!!!
Goodnight, Dear Diary,
JFK

I'm not even in favor of going back so far for a current political campaign... Not even when kerry's been using Vietnam as a primary theme establishing his qualifications?

Back it up, prove it and get the info out to the public...
Cracks are starting to appear in the Liberal media.
Be cautious of planted stories and do your homework.
The pressure is mounting from several sources and they will not have enough friends in the media to protect their candidate.

I seriously doubt this. That biographer guy saw the diaries and I think he would not have staked his career on writing Kerry's biography if this stuff was in there. Don't be taken in by something that could well be fake.

Not only will this get the spike...
...but I would STRONGLY advise Mr. Cockburn to avoid city parks, planes, and only eat foods out of pre-sealed packages.
He won't get TRIPP'ed - he'll get FOSTER'ed.

Suspicious, of course, but Alexander Cockburn is a very well-connected lefty journalist who is very bright and competent (even when I think he's a nutcase). He's done very good work over the years. If there's somebody in the Kerry campaign who's a hardcore leftist who think's Kerry has sold out, and wants him out of the way for a more clearly leftist candidate (Hillary! to the Rescue?), I can seem that person slipping a copy of Kerry's diaries to Cockburn. Hell, maybe Brinkley - who we know has had access to the diary - is tired of being used, but wants plausbile deniability in case Kerry isn't knocked out of the box. He'd be a natural to pass a copy to a guy who can write as acerbically as Cockburn.

The first Purple Heart was never attributed to enemy action. He misfired a rocket in a training exercise. There's nothing here.

"Not even when kerry's been using Vietnam as a primary theme establishing his qualifications?" It's merely my own personal opinion that attacking Senator Kerry *personally* for his actions while in uniform 3+ decades ago is a bit much. Other opinions will obviously and fairly differ with mine.
Pointing out his anti-war activities after he returned from combat is still a legitiamte target, in my mind, however.
But it's the man's Senate voting/attendance record in the last 20 years that makes the case against him as far as I'm concerned.
Your mileage may vary. Hey, it's a free country!
