Kerry War Diary Exposes Purple Heart Hoax
Greg Garrison Show | Ignatz

Posted on 08/17/2004 12:11:48 PM PDT by Ignatz

Presidential hopeful John Kerry has based his campaign bid for the US Presidency on his Vietnam war-hero status and his three Purple Hearts.

On the Garrison Show (WNDE, Indianapolis) this morning, a guest announced that soon-to-be-released excerpts from a diary kept by Kerry will shed doubt on his first Purple Heart. Apparently, Kerry notes in the diary that he did not come under actual enemy fire until days after being awarded the medal.

The diary was made available to a left-wing journalist named Cockburn who was apparently more angered by Kerry's participation in various atrocities in Vietnam than by what the diary proves of Senator Kerry's allegedly "illegal" Purple heart commendation. The information has been sent to Drudge, Fox News, and various other news organs.

In all fairness to Kerry, when Americans fired their weapons, Kerry considered that enemy fire.

I can hear it now...

CNN - In other news, cow tipping in Missouri has taken its toll. The misery index for the bovine population has reached all time highs. Now, back to the weather.

(Cow tipping news takes precedence over bogus purple heart for U.S. Presidential Candidate.)

Color me suspicious. Where would Alexander Cockburn get a copy of JF'nK's war diary?

Oddly enough, I've had two apolitical friends email me today with doubts/cynicism/complaints about Senator Kerry's history.

I'm not even in favor of going back so far for a current political campaign (and it's too personal for me), but clearly word is getting out through unconventional news media sources about this and other Kerry stories.

He is going to be very tired that he ever brought up his service in Nam way before this election is over.

various other news organs

"news organs"?

I guess Dan Rather would have to be on that list.

Cockburn is a pretty intrepid guy. It would not surprise me if some of the old VVAW lefties has copies of Kerry's diaries that he gave them during his war-protesting days and were all too happy to turn them over to Mr. Cockburn. The real question is will Graydon Carter print the story in Vanity Fair?

His diary entry is 9 days after the incident, and from I've heard, the diary entry does say "have yet to encounter any enemy fire."

But wait, there is more. This is the PH request that he tried to submit through Hibbard, and Hibbard told him "no." The processed request for the PH came 3 months later.

So, heads up on a technicality, when the paperwork for this PH had been submitted. it was AFTER Kerry's flotilla had encountered enemy fire. But the incident, well, KErry's personal records seem to indicate his first PH injury occurred before Kerry had encountered enemy fire.

I hope they can establish authenticity and chain of custody.

If they can't, it is a hateful Republican Attack Machine. If they can, then it will be ignored.

Since he's a leftie ally and presumably 'safe', the campaign probably thought he would use it to promote their candidate. Maybe they thought wrong.
