A Few of FR's Finest...Every Day...08-17-04...Blame it on St.Louie (What was your worst date?)
Billie

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Here Goes Nothing !

Arggghhh!
I took his
suggestion..
I threw
it up
and *ugly*
happened.

Arggghhh!
I know..
it stinks
but it was
*his* idea.

Arggghhh!
I can't
believe
*anyone*
will stay
around
today.

Arggghhh!
I bet
nobody's
first date
was
*this* ugly.

Arggghhh!
It's all
St.Louie's
fault if
you *hate*
today's
thread!

Arggghhh!
He *made* me
do it..
I didn't
wanna do
it....

I
Blame
it ALL
on
ST.LOUIE!

? ? ?

Sometimes it gets hard to think of ideas for new threads, so we ask for suggestions from our Finest Family... like what - or maybe even who - you would like to see featured in the future. Sometimes we hit the jackpot.
Last week I asked our dear FRiend, ST.LOUIE1, aka "wolfie", if there was anything in particular he would like to see presented at the Finest (Actually, I asked him if he would like to WRITE something for us, and I would even do the backgrounds, etc. and post it for him.) He very politely turned me down on writing it, but still offered this:
"BACKGROUNDS?!" he said, "You don't need elaborate backgrounds or fancy graphics - just throw out a question, like: 'What was your worst date?' and let everyone take it from there. It'll be fun, and you won't have to work so hard either."

"But Fancy Graphics and Elaborate Backgrounds R Us," I pouted. "It's what we've made as our trademark at the Finest. It's what others have come to 'expect' of us. They would be so disappointed. How could I just throw out a question..... with no background, no graphics, no pretty heading? No central theme, no color scheme, no coordinated pledge graphic, no welcome ping....."
"And besides, what kind of a question is that for the Finest? Most everyone here's been married so long, no one even *remembers* dating!"

Undeterred, wolfie (who, himself is a handsome and dashing and debonair bachelor and has probably never even had a *worst* date in his life) insisted this thread would indeed be a winner, so I begged and pleaded with him until finally he agreed I could at least have a background.
"So throw a background
around it and HUSH up!"

So here goes.....my reputation as a Finest Hostess aka Layout Artist aka Graphics Guru is at stake, but he made me do it. So if you hate today's thread, today's topic, BLAME IT ON ST. LOUIE!
On the other hand, if you just love today's thread, well,WE done good, didn't we? :) (That last part was just for you, T Man!)

Oh, yeah - the question!

Finest FReepers,
"What was your worst date?"

THIS WEEK'S THREADS

Opinions by our own 'King of Ping'
The guy's good, folks!
Thanks, Mixer!

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar.
2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

(((Wolfie and Company))) I thought I'd drop by take a little of the heat of our friend Wolfie with a parody of John Kerry. I was reading some articles about sKerry by David Limbaugh and I started hearing "Karma Chameleon" in my head. It struck me how perfect a theme song it would be for the Wafflemeister so here goes....

Bein’ president’s your plan every day
But choosing a side’s not your forte
You’re a man without conviction
You’re a man who has no core
Oh you sell those contradictions
Waffle on
Waffle on

Kerry Kerry Kerry Kerry Chameleon
You flip and flop
You flip and flop
Electing ya would be easy if your colors were like my flag
Red, white and blue
Red, white and blue

Heard your nuanced words come out this way…
Thinkin’ no one understands just what you say
That our brains are in full traction
And our instincts are all wrong
Then you’ll find you’re not in office
You’ll scream with Dean
You’ll scream with Dean

Kerry Kerry Kerry Kerry Chameleon
You flip and flop
You flip and flop
Electing ya would be easy if your colors were like my flag
Red, white and blue
Red, white and blue

Every day is bare survival
With Commander Bush as my rival
Every day is bare survival
With Commander Bush as my rival

You’re a man without conviction
You’re a man who has no core
Oh you sell those contradictions
Waffle on
Waffle on

Kerry Kerry Kerry Kerry Chameleon
You flip and flop

Electing ya would be easy if your colors were like my flag

OOOOPS! Very good. Here is one of my Kerrodies.

Leaving on His Jet Plane

Leaving on a Jet Plane

JohnDenver

All his records sealed, he’s ready to go.
He’s flipped and flopped, as we well know.
But we must now wake up,
And say goodbye.
Now the light is shining,
It’s a new morn.
His bus is waiting,
He’s holding corn.

Already he’s so funny,
I could cry.

So wave bye, don’t look at me,
Turn around and really flee.
Told you that, you really need to go.

He’s leaving, on his jet plane.
We all hope, he won’t be back again.
Oh John, we wish you’d go.

There’s so many times, he’s lied, we found.
We all just wish, he would leave town.
The words he says, they don’t mean a thing.
Everything he says, a lie to you.
As he flips and flops a time or two.
When he leaves town, much sunshine it will bring.

So wave bye, don’t look at me,
Turn around and really flee.
Told him that, he really needs to go.

We all hope, he won’t be back again.
Oh John, we wish you’d go.

Now the time has passed we’re tired of you.
Please be gone we won’t miss you.
We’ll hold the door, you get on your way.
Think about the time will come.
You will see that you are dumb.

We’ll recall the day we got to say.

So wave bye, don’t look at me,
Turn around and really flee.
Told him that, he really needs to go.

He’s leaving, on his jet plane.
We all hope, he won’t be back again.
Oh John, we wish you’d go.

A likely story, young lady! LOL! I believe you though! No fair though - it was only the circumstances, not the date! :)

(((((((Billie)))))) and [[[[[{{{{{(((((Louie_Wolfie_Man)))))}}}}}]]]]]

What a *great* idea!

My worst date was with a very good male friend that I had during high school - we were both 16 or 17 at the time. After two years of hanging around the same crowd together, we decided to try the "boyfriend-girlfriend thing." What a disaster! The "Goodnight Kiss" was like kissing my own brother - eck!

It didn't ruin our friendship, but we lost touch after graduation. Sometimes I wonder what he's been up to over the past *30* years!

Love and ((((((HUGS)))))))) to all at the Finest.

A very happy ending!!!!!

Hubby used to get called Mr. Gabz a lot......I had been known by my maiden name for so many years that some folks would forget and just call him by it..it never bothered him in the least.

Unlike the ex - who would have a hissy fit anytime he was called Mr. Gabz. We were both in broadcasting and I continued using my maiden name on the air after we got married, that's how people knew me. It just frosted him that my name was better known than his in certain cirles.

Some men and their fragile egos...............

LOL!!!! In order to be a good housewife, I'd have to get over my FR addiction. I must go get my hair and nails done. Such was said about two hours ago, and I'm using cleaning my pond as an excuse to stay home :o)

A date with you and dd (or is dd married now)?

A date with Louie. : )

Lin would strangle Diver if he even thought of collecting his prize. LOL

'worst date'... which makes it sorta ... topless.

LOL!!!

A couple of occasions blur in my memory, both involving women a little too needy for me to be comfortable with, so I bid a respectful Goodnite and then vamoosed as quickly as I could.

Needy? LOL

There was another time when I found out, during the course of the evening, that the lady was not quite as unmarried as I'd been led to believe ... I backed outta that one in a flash, too.
Something about that phrase 'entangling alliances' kept popping into my mind.

Smart as a fox you are, Johnny Fox. : )
