I Have a Question???????????

Posted on 08/16/2004 10:18:30 AM PDT by sweetiepiezer

I have a question?

While watching the Kerry-O'Neil debate on the Dick Cavett show yesterday, Kerry stated he had a letter there that they sent to Senator Stennis, requesting to ask that the Senate Armed Services Committee immediately convene public hearings to examine the testimony presented by these veterans, meaning the Vietnam Veterans Against the war.

Kerry's quote from the Cavett show.

"MR. KERRY: Well, I have often talked about this subject. I personally didn't see personal atrocities in the sense that I saw somebody cut a head off or something like that. However, I did take part in free fire zones and I did take part in harassment interdiction fire. I did take part in search-and-destroy missions in which the houses of noncombatants were burned to the ground. And all of these, I find out later on, these acts are contrary to the Hague and Geneva Conventions and to the laws of warfare. So in that sense, anybody who took part in those, if you carry out the applications of the Nuremberg principles, is in fact guilty.

But we're not trying to find war criminals. That's not our purpose. It never has been. I have a letter here which I could read to you which we wrote to Washington D.C. in an effort to try and solve the problem of these war crimes, and we sent it to Senator Stennis, and we said, "On behalf of Vietnam Veterans Against the War, we're writing to ask that the Senate Armed Services Committee immediately convene public hearings to examine the testimony presented by these veterans." May I go on?"

The whole transript is here. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1186437/posts

Why couldn't the Swifties send a letter to the Senate Armed Services Committee to examine the testimony of the Swift Boat Veterans. This way the Swifites would be under oath and the whole country could see the testimony. Our whole future is in jeopordy.

This is borrowed from a fellow freper, sorry forgot your name, it speaks volumes.

"How dare anyone question John Kerry about his service! How dare they ask to see his military records to once and for all answer the nasty critics of his obvious heroism! How dare they ask him to explain how he could have been sent to Cambodia illegally by, presumably, then president-elect Nixon in December of 1968 as he has stated on numerous occasions over the past 30 years when even his shipmates deny it ever happened! How dare anyone ignore the contents of the critics' charges (detailed in the "Unfit For Command" book that you allude to but obviously didn't read) while questioning their motives and funding! How dare anyone believe that a man who would lie about his war-time exploits might just lie about his future intentions and agenda! How dare we resist the urge to just hand over the Presidency to Sen. Kerry without so much as a passing glance at the truth of his claim of valor and courage that he insists qualify him to be commander-in-chief!"

Something has to be done and we have to find out what can be done to get these truths out there and fast. Any ideas?????????????

You mean turn the tables on him?
"On behalf of Swiftvets For Truth, we're writing to ask that the Senate Armed Services Committee immediately convene public hearings to examine the testimony presented by these veterans." May I go on?"

..."I find out later on, these acts are contrary to the Hague and Geneva Conventions and to the laws of warfare."

Mr. Kerry was commissioned during a time of war, and made it all the way to the battlefield without having a knowlege of Hague, and Geneva Conventions?

What a load of crap. C'mon...how many of you former and current military folks remember getting the LOAC briefing drilled into you?

Let me answer your question as why hundreds of distinguished war heros can not ask to do what one scum rat leftist John Kerry did. Because the republican party are total cowards who will let the leftists run war heros into the ground rather than confront a political party that has called the president a "deserter" and "AWOL" The democrats are corrupt, vicious and radical leftists, and the republicans are afraid and I often think, clueless, on calling them out for it.

Something is being done. One thing the Framers of our COnstitution had the sense to do was to set this system up in such a way that it moves s l o w l y.

This is a good thing.

There are bigger issues concerning Kerry that the Swift Boat charges. Clearly what Kerry did in Vietnam is important, but it is only a smoke screen IMHO.

I think the real issue is what he did and "who" his shipmates were from about 1970 - 1971. The time period he was in the VVAW.

He associated with some very interesting people.

Suggestion: Do the proper multilateral-thing and submit a copy of the above transcript to Kerry's friends at the U.N. and request they initiate U.N. tribunal for said mentioned war crimes.

The "swiftees" are under oath. They have signed Avidavits, swearing under penlty of perjury that what they are saying is the truth.

He he!

Can you imagine, some months ago, the ex-Clinton people working for Kerry saying "Oh, you need to push the Vietnam service! You must!"

Kerry is a fool! In bringing up Vietnam he's picked open a huge scab that's been on top of a huge wound for 30 years. And it's a wound HE CREATED! The way Vietnam Vets were treated after they came home was Kerry's fault!

In a way I'm glad that Kerry brought up Vietnam. Way too many people think that the people that served this country in Vietnam did the things Kerry lied about.

Kerry has orchestrated the path to his own self destruction. He has given all those vets the chance to clear their names. And has given us a way to help them. And the result of that is that Kerry goes down. It's just a matter of how hard.

In the forseeable future Kerry will not be president, will not be a Senator and will not be married to TereSa. The sweet taste of the tears he crys after he crashes and burns will not be enough to pay for what he did to so many so long ago!

Can anyone explain why Vietnam Veterans for a Just Peace (Kessler/O'Neill's Group) was not allowed to testify before the Senate Committee at which Kerry made his allegations in 1971?

This way the Swifites would be under oath and the whole country could see the testimony.

The Swifties have already been placed under oath -- they made their statements in sworn affidavits. As far as the whole country seeing it, the book is selling like wildfire so the word is getting out.

The Republican party isn't getting involved in this in any way at all. To me, that's the best way to go. This is strictly between the Swifties and kerry.

To add: Insert 'left media' in additon where the word 'democrats' is mentioned.

I think we are getting lost in the fog that is John Kerry. I seriously doubt that Kerry committed any actionable "atrocities" in his 4 months. It is all part of the anti American lies he was and is still willing to tell in order to undermine this country and advance a foolish left wing agenda.

First he spouted irresponsible nonsense about cutting off heads, etc. Then he says well, he never saw any of that, but he engaged in standard U.S. military tactics, which violate international law. I am unaware of any finding that U.S. tactics in Vietnam violated international covenants and Kerry was once again smearing his own country at war.
