Re "public payout," why should that matter?

Because we can't opt out of paying our taxes, yet our kids are be forbidden the benefit of those taxes because of religious criteria.

FWIW, the total sum of "mandatory religious indoctrination" is in the act of reciting the Scout Oath. I'm sure an atheist could fake it . .

We have granted the Eagle rank to kids who attended no organized religion, but they did have to profess a belief in a "faith" even if that faith were as vague as the collection of all living things or the spirit of scouting. It was intended that the religion mean one of the many organized religions, but scouts have always been accomodative in this area. Not so in the area of sexual preferrence.

Keeping kids out of scouts for religious reasons seems wrong to me.
Your mileage obviously varies. But if they're going to do that, forget public funding.

"Seems" wrong "to you?" Why should anyone else care what "seems wrong to you?"

Do we have laws against murder because murder "seems wrong to you" or because our hypocritical society is still living off the Laws of the G-d it denies?

Again, why should expending taxpayers' money on beliefs those taxpayers don't agree with be "wrong" or "discontinued?" Because of something Thomas Jefferson once said? (I suppose it "seemed wrong to him.")

All that matters is what "seems wrong" to HaShem (yitbarakh shemo).

Sorry, but that's no reason to consider anything "wrong." The only valid criteria is "arbitrary Divine decree."

Kindly look up the term Theonomic positivism. Then we'll talk.

So you not only favor discriminating against kids on the basis of religion, but also having the state take money from nonbelievers to fund organizations to which they are denied entrance?  Do I have that right?

I don't need God to tell me it's wrong to discriminate against children for religious reasons in a nonchurch setting.

"If you can't take it and mean it, don't join."

Right. I'm sure there are millions of people who have had wonderful lives without being boy scouts. And if the Atheists or the Homosexuals or their parents want to found some other group for boys or girls, what's stopping them?

As Rush Limbaugh has pointed out the antogonism to the Boy Scouts just proves that the left just wants to destroy.

My. You are a sharp one. What are you going to do? Tell my mommy or report me to the FBI as "un-American?"

Not only do I believe in all those "awful" things, but I also believe that no one has any right to worship any other "gxd" than HaShem or make up any "new" religions beyond His (defined for all time for both Jew and Gentile at Mt. Sinai), and that a war is coming in which Israel will "compel" (RaMBa"M's word) all mankind to renounce false religions and embrace HaShem and His law on the alternative of death. But I'm sure your quotations of Thomas Jefferson and the Bill of Rights will make them see the light. [/sarcasm]

How can you sit there when newspapers, books, and magazines still use gender-specific pronouns? Doesn't that "seem wrong to you?" Why don't you go out and block traffic in front of hospital emergency rooms until the rest of mankind catches up with your acute sensitivity and sense of fairness? I'm sure Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Paine, and Richard Mentor Johnson would approve.

No. Of course not. You have your "feelings" to dictate to you (and apparently everyone else) just what constitutes "right" and "wrong" in this random, meaningless, self-existent universe which we're supposed to (for some dumb reason) go out and "improve" with our groundless rationalistic "ethics."

Hey, I can't help believing what I do! It's "brain chemistry," remember!

If life is a cosmic accident, then drop all your groundless moral beliefs and settle down and enjoy life. Perhaps by grazing like a cow.

The point of the article was that an excess of politically correct, 'inclusive', multi-culturalism has destroyed yet another Canadian cultural institution.

That is the sad fact.

You appear to want to divert the conversation to the sophistical rationales of the lefty lawyers who are attempting to use the guarantees of the Bill of Rights to destroy American society.

As you say, 'your mileage may vary'.

I just wondered how Christians can justify excluding nonreligious kids from Boy Scouting.  Don't see it, myself. But it is mentioned in the article, so there's no diversion.

We're already joined. We're both moralizing idealists, but I have a legitimate reason to be so. You have no reason to have any more ideals or beliefs than an ant, yet you crusade for rational/humanistic ethics, which cannot be justified by an appeal to a meaningless coincidental world or the phyisical laws that allegedly make up the whole of reality. I mean, did Newton discover that it's "wrong" to "discriminate?"

Your practice needs to catch up with your beliefs.

LOL  No, but one can posit right and wrong without having to appeal to invisible men in the sky.
