There are only three pro-life, anti-sodomy justices on the Supreme Court and each one was nominated by a Republican president. Justice Rehnquist was named to the Supreme Court by President Nixon in 1972 and appointed Chief Justice by President Reagan in 1986. Also in 1986, President Reagan named Justice Scalia to the Supreme Court. In 1987, President Reagan nominated and fought for another pro-life Justice: Robert Bork (who has recently converted to Catholicism) but the Democrats infamously refused to confirm Bork, principally because he opposed the Roe v. Wade ruling which legalized the killing of unborn human babies.
President Bush the elder, named Justice Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court in 1991. Each of the other six Supreme Court Justices ruled in June of 2003 that laws criminalizing sodomy are un-Constitutional
in effect granting the perversion of sodomy as a right, guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States of America.
In response to this nonsensical and utterly depraved ruling, Justice Scalia, writing on behalf of Chief Justice Rehnquist and Justice Thomas, succinctly pointed out the ridiculousness of claiming sodomy as a right protected by the Constitution:
"By this ruling (legalizing sodomy) the Supreme Court holds to be a Constitutional right what had been a criminal offense at the time of the founding of our country and for over 200 years therafter." (Supreme Court of the United States, June 26, 2003: LAWRENCE V. TEXAS, reversed and remanded. Justice Scalia, with whom The Chief Justice and Justice Thomas join, dissenting.)
Perhaps James Madison, the author of our Constitution, didn't realize that he wrote into the Constitution a right to sodomy; we needed today's tyrannical Supreme Court Justices to give us the "correct" meaning of the Constitution. We are now supposed to believe that its very author and its signers did not know the meaning of their very own document.
While we are on this subject, it may be noteworthy to mention that the infamous phrases, "separation of Church and State" and "the right to privacy" are nowhere in the actual text of the Constitution. But the author of the Constitution and our fourth president did say this:
"Before any man can be considered as a member of civil society, he must be considered as a subject of the Governor of the Universe. And to the same Divine Author of every good and perfect gift (James 1:17) we are indebted for all those privileges and advantages...which are so richly enjoyed in this favored land." (President James Madison, author of the Constitution and 4th President)
"We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future of all of our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government; upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God." (President James Madison, author of the Constitution and 4th President)
And John Jay, the first Supreme Court Justice of our country had the following to say:
"Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers. It is to be regretted, but so I believe the fact to be, that except the Bible there is not a true history in the world." (John Jay, Founding Father and first Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court)
"Let a general reformation of manners take place--let universal charity, public spirit, and private virtue be inculcated, encouraged, and practiced. Unite in preparing for a vigorous defense of your country, as if all depended on your own exertions. And when you have done all things, then rely upon the Good Providence of Almighty God for success, in full confidence that without His blessings, all our efforts will inevitably fail." (John Jay, Founding Father and first Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court)
Additionally, our second president made this fundamentally relevant observation regarding our Constitution:
"We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." (John Adams, Founding Father, 2nd President)
While the Chief legislative body - the U.S. Congress proclaimed in 1782 that:
"The Congress of the United States recommends and approves the Holy Bible for use in all schools." (Congress of the United States, 1782)
In the year 2000, the Supreme Court ruled by a vote of 5-4 that the Nebraska law outlawing "partial-birth abortions" was un-Constitutional. Of course, included in the four dissenting votes were Chief Justice Rehnquist and Justices Scalia and Thomas, joined by Justice Kennedy (who was the forced compromise after the Democrats refused to confirm the aforementioned Robert Bork). Although Justice Kennedy generally supports the right of a woman to kill her child; he had this to say when voting to uphold Nebraska's law outlawing partial-birth abortion:
"The State (Nebraska) chose to forbid a procedure many decent and civilized people find so abhorrent as to be among the most serious of crimes against human life, while the State still protected the woman's autonomous right of choice as reaffirmed in Casey."
Notably, both of the Supreme Court Justices appointed by President Clinton (Ruth Bader Ginsburg, appointed in 1993, and Stephen Breyer, appointed in 1994) voted to proclaim sodomy a Constitutional right, but a law criminalizing the murder of infants partially born (their entire body but their head is outside of the mother) to be un-Constitutional.
The sad fact remains that if Republican Presidents had never compromised on the abortion issue, the murder of the unborn in the United States would have already been outlawed by the Supreme Court. Six of the nine Supreme Court Justices have been appointed by Republican Presidents, but only three are pro-life and anti-sodomy.
Republicans compromise where the Democrats never would. Each of the three Supreme Court Justices appointed by the Democrats is staunchly in favor of a woman having the right to choose to kill her own child and in favor of citizens having the Constitutional right of engaging in sodomy. Whereas it is most certainly true that Democrats are even more anti-life and perverted than Republicans, the fact is that neither party is committed to enact just laws, nor uphold just laws once enacted.
But alas, we have no one to blame except ourselves! Our Founding Fathers gave us the following admonitions which have now proved to be prophetic:
"Those people who will not be governed by God will be ruled by tyrants." (William Penn, Founding Father)
"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of man and citizens." (George Washington's Farewell address: Friday, January 8, 1790)
"It is in an especial manner our duty as a people, with devout reverence and affectionate gratitude, to acknowledge our many and great obligations to Almighty God, and to implore Him to continue to confirm the blessings we experienced. Deeply penetrated with this sentiment, I, George Washington, President of the United States, do recommend to all religious societies and denominations, and to all persons whomsoever within the United States, to set apart and observe Thursday, the 19th day of February next, as a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, and on that day to meet together and render sincere and hearty thanks to the great Ruler of nations for the manifold and signal mercies which distinguish our lot as a nation." (George Washington, Founding Father and 1st President)

Three Just Justices of the Supreme Court

"Those people who will not be governed by God will be ruled by tyrants." (William Penn, Founding Father)
When will Christians learn?!
Please let me know if you want on or off my Pro-Life Ping List.
I wonder what the NY Times would write if he were running for President today?
What you should be asking is when will CAtholics quit voting Demorat???If they in fact voted accoridng to what they are supposed to believe then Republicans and pro lifers would be winning in a majority of states...So if you want folks to pay attention tell your CAtholic friends
It doesn't change the point of the article, but I just want to mention that it annoys me to no end when someone discusses the intent of Madison or Jefferson or even William Penn as regards a ruling based on the 14th Amendment, which wasn't ratified until 1868, when Madison and Jefferson and even William Penn were quite dead.
Granted, I'm fairly sure Thaddeus Stevens would've been just as surprised as Madison to find out he wrote into the Constitution a right to sodomy (had Madison written the 14th Amendment, which he didn't).
Those who wrote the 14th Ammendment would be quite surprised it provided a justification of the right to sodomy. Please, read the what was written about the Ammendment at the time, and you will see it was never intended to be what it became.
The majority of practicing Catholics vote conservative; the fallen-away and heretical (who for reasons inexplicable to me continue to self-identify as Catholic -- see Kerry) vote liberal.
There are only three pro-life, anti-sodomy justices on the Supreme Court and each one was nominated by a Republican president.
Of course, the Democrats need to have people with very low character to go along with their agenda, they would never endorse a good person with character.
NOt in Massachutes, CHicago, or anywhere in California...Are you trying to tell me that union Catholics are voting republican? Not in this lifetime or the next as far as I can tell
I truly believe, as a traditional Catholic, that no real
Catholic CAN vote for a DemocRAT! They've shown themselves to be anti-Catholic in the Senate and with the pro-choice, anti-Catholic platform. These are the self-named Catholics who believe that the Kennedy family is royalty.
This is a reality regarding which I have had many discussions over the years. It is as frustrating as it gets. However, I disagree with you. Many good christians realize the problem, and have attempted in various ways to counter it, but to no avail. One of my siblings, upon meeting Chief Justice Rehnquist, implored him to overturn overturn Roe vs. Wade. This was during Reagans' Presidencey. He smiled and said he would do his best, but unfortunatly it wasn't entirely up to him.
This is one of many instances about which there can be no compromise.
Good point. However, many Catholics are Catholic in name only. I spoke with two catholics yesterday about the upcoming presidential elections. They refuse to vote for Bush again. Abortion is not one of their concerns.
Thank you! It was good of you to take the time to research and post it.
We have been pushing "Voting Guide for Serious Catholics"
AND
"A Brief Catechism for Catholic Voters" at
http://ewtn.com/vote/brief_catechism.htm
for several months. They are both excellent and compliment one another. If a sincere person were to read these two it would provide great clarity.
For this election I don't care about abortion or anything except the war on terror. I am a single issue this time out...not my ususal style but this is too important to do otherwise
I also think that GW happens to be the best candidate when considering abortion as well.
