If I knew how to nominate that for Post of the Day, I would.

As another Wisconsinite, I know more planning to vote for Kerry than I know people voting correctly. :{

Excluding all the profs I had while at Texas A&M, I can think of only one person I actually know well that will vote for Lurch. He is a declared socialist but won't vote Green or Nader as he feels it is a throw away vote. Even though he is a hard core lefty we've been good friends for 20 years. Actually he isn't as liberal as he wants to think. He is fairly conservative on social issues like homosexual marriage and abortion and thinks it should be left to the states to decide. He is far left though on economic issues.

My mother is wavering on Bush. Right now she's a Savage-ette and will be voting for Peroutka *LOL* I'll be helping her out a little in the voting booth ;-)

That's amazing. They think Kerry would be a horrible president, but they hate Bush more .. [sigh]!

Have you ever asked them why they hate Bush ..?? You might be able to make some inroads if you can give them evidence contrary to what they have heard.

must be nice Sally.

I'd venture in a 10 mile radius of Green Hills mall here in Nashville that it's about 35% Kerry bumperstickers and 65% GW.

I know three-
one is a dem delegate, though I think even she might chicken out and write in Nader.

Her husband, the socialist who will probably vote for Kerry-they're in the anyone but Bush camp,
and lastly,

My Mom, although the swift vets, and Ter-Ay-Za are starting to help her see the light.

The good news is I'm in TX, so it's not a problem. Bush will carry the state.

AAAAAGGHH!!!

Your WIFE´s going to vote for Kerry?!? I can't even imagine what that would be like. How do you discuss politics? Is there friction whenever the subject comes up?

My wife and I (thankfully) see 100% eye-to-eye on politics, religion, etc.

I don't know how liberal/conservative relationship can survive in this day and age.

Nashville is still pretty conservative. Zips 37205 and 37215 are huge per capita Pub donators but because of Vandy, Belmont and the Entertainment Industry (not the artists who are mostly conservative) and the fact that Nashville proper is 20% black.....you end up with a bit of the Chapel Hill/Piedmont or Austin TX syndrome here.

Fortunately, we are holding our own in the metro area. Nashville proper (Davidson county) is lost due to demographics but I think W carried all of the other 6 metro counties.

Pretty much my whole family, too. And probably most of our employees, if they think to vote that day...I don't speak to them about politics. I'm counting on them forgetting to vote.

A lot of it has to do with local and state politics. Our property tax bill is $6000 this year and that's directly linked to things like illegal immigration and the heavy social services burden. There's not much incentive to vote republican in this state except for the fact that my mayor will be challenging McCarthy for her seat.
