Fwiw, I'm an atheist, and I've voted for W more than any of you outside of Texas.

Yep....I find my neighbors most disgusting. At book club two months ago, two of them (one is an Arab christian, hubby is neurologist and she's dumb as a sack of rocks) started up about how they love Micahel Moore.

Annette got up and left.

Guesstimate more than 50.

But I'm trying as hard as I can with any with a remotely fair mind!

Ditto here. I work in the SF Bay peninsula. I work for a municipal government, so I'd be lucky if 10% of the people I work with will vote for W. I don't mind, cause the libs are all 9ers fans anyway.

My only fun is telling the locals that they are sell-outs if they don't vote Nader!

In Seattle the anti-Bush bumper stickers are at a ratio of 20 to 1 or better. A probable majority of people I know are voting Kerry.....among close friends far less.

Seattle is hopeless - the only hope for the state is if the eastern and southwestern parts of the state vote as a conservative block.....and that is unlikely to overcome Seattle's population advantage.

Frankly, I love it here, but every election I consider moving ..... (but where)....Texas hill country I guess.

My gosh wardaddy, you're surrounded by democrats.

Right now, I "think" the neighbors on one side will
vote a straight democrat ticket (they always have).
The ones on the other side are voting Bush/Cheney
this time around because they're afraid of terrorism
and think Kerry is anti-American. LOL.

Husband's Jewish associates always vote democrat, but
one of the two doctors is voting for Bush/Cheney and
he even has a bumper sticker on his huge gas guzzler.

hmmm...I have to think this through...my very liberal older brother and his wife, my socialist older sister (not sure about her husband), my have-to-keep-my-job-under-the-Dim-gov rebellious younger sister and my other brother who was a Naderite in 2000. My ex-husband and mother-in-law (because they've "always voted Democrat" --- and that's one of the reasons the ex is the ex...heh heh) and most likely the 20 or so people with whom I work.

HOWEVER, my vote will cancel out my older brother's, another sister will cancel out the socialist sister's vote, the twin sister of the rebellious one will blast that vote for F'n and one more older sister will destroy my Nader bro's. Plus I have a large number of very conservative, voting-age cousins will neutralize my co-workers' votes. :o)

Such a shame you have to function with them.

Not really, as I have a big mouth and love to shoot it off. Last family dinner I almost told my own mother she was F'd in the head. It was close..Oh well.

There are lots of great places in the country. I live in WI, but I live in the most conservative county. I guess it comes down to how hard do you want to fight? Wisconsin has a great chance of winning. We only lost the last election by 5,708 votes, and there was massive voter fraud here. We are a fairly conservative state, but, you wouldn't know it by our elected officials. Part of the the problem is the big cities have the most say, and they're the most liberal. Tides are changes. If you love your area, stick it out, get involved, make a difference in you community. That's where the action is. You can't make changes on a federal level, you have to start at the local level.

I know a bunch, most at work, neighbors and a couple of relatives. One told me today that she lost $80,000
on the stock market because of Bush and he went to war to avenge his father. I just can't believe how stupid people really are and how effective the smear Bush ads have been. It's such a shame to defame this good man when a real phoney, piece of socialist crap is what they all adore. I pray for this country and it's survival if Bush is not re-elected.

My family also is democrat and leans toward Kerry. I have to be careful how I approach them because I want to avoid heated arguments.

Some of them are Christians now and they are taking issues such as abortion and homosexuality a lot more serious.

I called the Christian Coalition the other day and wanted to order a "Voter Guide" that shows where each candidate stands on important issues, but it is not available yet, so I designed a voter guide myself. If you have Microsoft Publisher, I'd be happy to send it. Unfortunately, MS Word won't open it. And I don't know how to post a document.

A friend of mine who is a truck driver, is in the process of posting the Voter guides in every truck stop on his route. It's basically a one-page comparison on Bush VS Kerry.

I know a lot of folks mainly thru work and mother's day out-church stuff. Nashville is considerably more liberal than my hometown of Jackson Mississippi....probably due to Vandy and some unionization as much as anything....and lots of Yankee transplants. (although not all Yankees her are Dems...far from it)

Now in my immediate and extended family, out of maybe 100 folks only maybe 3 are Dems...one is a judge in SF and his wife is a vegan-marxist (who works for HBO) and I have one cousin's daughter in med school at Tulane who's a greenie.

My oldest daughter is a greenie too but has strong hesitation about Kerry's lies. Her little sister is like me as is my 4 year old manchild so far. He knows damn well that "George W Bush" is the man and that we are at war. None of them nor the 20 month old can vote obviously.

My wife is more conservative than me if that's possible....I'm a bit soft on da herb...she is not.

Anyhow, in my peer group it's 100% Bush by default....we are all on call for the armed struggle to take back out culture but for now W will have to do.

I know 8 (usually) republicans who are voting for Peroutka (Constitution Party).

Two of them could be swayed back to Bush, and the AWB sunset is a big factor.

Frustrating, isn't it? My other favorite is Bush is too stupid to be the President and is downright unqualified.

There are some folks I refuse to discuss politics with because after listening to them rant awhile it becomes clear that:

A, Their perceptions are off.

B, They aren't interested in facts and are strangers to critical thinking

and

C, They're just downright, rabidly, hateful.

I could identify about 4000+ (17,000 plus registered voters) who will vote for him, here in this small Indiana county. Of course, they would vote for a bag of rotten onions if it had a Democrat label on it.
Their reasoning is "I vote the way my Daddy taught me to vote." Duh!!! Real smart folks. lol

I forgot to mention that my old spinster aunt who is a 76 year old lesbian and her partner of 40 years are both hard core conservative blue hairs and would not dream of voting left nor flaunting their very private homosexuality.
