On the 5th I posted an article title The Media is the Real Enemy - Watch Media Reaction to the Swift Boat Vets Story and be Convinced!. After observing what has happened since and in particular the performance typified by Crossfire and Hardball tonight, is there any question remaining that our primary activism objective needs to be defeating the media hegemony that nourishes the beast?
I've been involved in FReeper activism beginning way back with the March for Justice in '98. I now believe my energies have been nothing but shadow boxing. Every single action that we have undertaken against groups or individuals can trace their existence to an adoring dim media that creates them, props them up and then protects them from damage through propaganda, misdirection and lies.
I think it's time we redirect our efforts to the source that creates, sustains and drives liberalism.
Comments and suggestions?
People who USE forums etc on the internet are the ones I target.
The people who search for air fare, games etc usually don't watch TV for their news.
I know my strategy works.
I've see converts, small but one swho "see the light"
I know there's more but don't post.
He said he hadn't voted for a Republican since 1988!
From many responses, I'll go with Occam's Razor -- under what possible set of circumstances are 45% of the US electorate not going to vote Stupid Party each and every time? MSNBCCNNCBSABCNBC could be off the air tomorrow and Stupid Party would still pull 45%. Unenlightened self-interest, aka the rabble votin' funds for themselves out of the treasury, is not a media problem...
What state are you in?
And Clinton was elected twice, even after soliciting BJ's in the oval office from a 21 year old intern, committing perjury and obstruction of justice. Reagan got in when John Anderson split the dem vote and Bush1 lost re-election with the constant "It's the economy Stupid" and "He lied about raising taxes" drumbeat from the media. How soon we forget.
DAMN!! What a slam!! Let us know what (ya, right!) you get in response.
Keep your powder dry.
Welcome to Free Republic Brother!
Indeed they have but the 'bigger' guns are the ones invited to appear on the alphabet networks dismissing the claims as lowball tactics by republicans while reminding us time and again that even McCain called it dispicable.
CNN and MSNBC can appease us by saying they invited O'Neill but the hosts got an "A" in Bamboozling 101 and made sure the audience heard little. What's upsetting is tuning in to foxnews for some refuge only to hear O'Reilly praise Kerry's service while void of praise for the vets.
The only consolation is that any publicity, even if it's negative, is being heard.

It's worked so well with the TV Networks and our educational system.
Its not just about Kerry and the War on Terror. this war is against an American press that urinates on your sensibilities daily. Punch them in the face, by introducing them to their uselessness and utter insignificance.
And if you think this is as bad as it has ever been, go out this weeken and rent, John Doe, His Girl Friday, or The Fountainhead for a little black and white reminder.
Atos
Don't watch O'Reilly; he's not with us. I don't know WHO he's with.
Well, I beleive you. The funny thing is, the only people that wealthy are liberals. I've never understood how they can get away with this "party of the little people" BS.
The liberal media has always been the enemy of conservatism and Republicans. This onslaught has been growing since the 1960`s and can be directly traced to the nightly broadcasts of Walter Cronkite during the VietNam War. In our pop culture world of America 2004, people have gotten so lazy and stupid its a wonder any conservative Republican can win election to public office. And its only gonna get worse. We need more alternative media entities to counter the nightly news broadcasts on the three major neteworks and the millions of folks who read re-printed liberal rants from the likes of the NYTimes, WashPost and LATimes. The blatant partisanship and biased reporting from media elites like Canadian Jennings, Captain Rather and Brokjaw, have to be seriously countered. Need to get a wealthy cosnervative to purchase ABC, CBS or NBC. It's the only way to effect real change in the direction of American politics. A few more conservative cable outlets would be helpful too. Changing the mindset of the fourth estate is a huge undertaking and won't be easy.
Seeing our President and First Lady on LKL tonight more than made up for the sh!tstorm on the shows you mentioned.
Torie's Hardball take is spot on, but the biggest thing I will sleep on tonight is how much I like George and Laura, even more today than in the 2000 campaign. I particularly liked seeing George remind me of his humility (telling LK he knows how to pronounce more words than himself), because ever since the dem primaries I have been convinced that Kerry is the most arrogant politician I have ever seen.
That's why I look forward to the debates more and more with each passing day. Bush as the humble protector is going to stand in stark contrast to Kerry as the blowhard sellout. Can't wait.
I didn't type that, and don't believe that. Clinton had certain talents. I almost voted for him myself in 1996. The FBI files popping up on Livingstone's desk saved me from going to the dark side in the nick of time.
