An actor who played prominent roles in a homosexual-themed play paralleling the life of Jesus Christ is on trial this week for allegedly seeking sex with someone he thought was a 14-year-old boy he met on the Internet.
Steven Shriner, 42, of Hoboken, N.J., portrayed the characters of both Jesus' mother Mary and the apostle Peter in "Corpus Christi," a production of the Chicago-based Ulysses Theatre Company about a victim of "homophobes" in a Texas high school who eventually performs miracles for his 12 disciples.
According to the Trentonian newspaper, Shriner allegedly used his home computer in January of last year for the "express purpose of meeting and having sex with a boy."
During opening statements, Deputy Attorney General Charles Ouslander said Shriner entered a sexually explicit chat room, thinking he was conversing with a teen boy, whose screen name was Timpit6668. In reality, Shriner was speaking with investigator Brian Damiani who was typing on his undercover computer at the Hughes Justice Complex in Trenton.
Shriner allegedly sought to meet Timpit6668, discussing the location and activities in which the two would engage.
He also sent a video clip of himself masturbating.
"I have more ; ) ," Shriner allegedly wrote, according to printouts of the conversations.
The Trentonian says authorities closed in on the suspect at a pizza place in Hamilton, N.J., when he showed up and flashed his lights, which was the agreed code.
Armed with a search warrant, authorities recovered 24 images of suspected child pornography involving kids between the ages of 8 and 10.
Defense attorney Will Anklowitz said Shriner believed he was dealing with someone who was 18 years old at the time he entered the porn site, since a disclaimer at the chat room's entrance stated users must be at least 18.
Shriner is charged with attempted sexual assault, which carries up to a ten-year prison term. He also faces charges of attempted sexual contact, luring and enticing a juvenile, attempted endangering the welfare of a child and possessing child pornography.
In a review of "Corpus Christi," Chicago Tribune writer Chris Jones said the play "strives to link homophobia with the persecutions suffered by Christ. ...
"This is an elegant, intelligent show that is so much in tune with authorial intention that it takes the script to new levels of theatrical and political dignity."
Thanks...I read it waaaay too quickly. Still, it's obscene.
Lets consider this for a moment...Those supporters generally favor unrestricted abortion. In their eyes children are just another 'play thing'. If you can't kill them in the womb then the next best is to traumatize and corrupt them by any means possible. So what if they get raped by a homosexual.
and they have supporters, like The Entire Democatic Party...just ask Bwarney Fwrank, Rear Adm. Ted "Swimmer" Kennedy, Nancy "Botox" Pelosi and John "the French Poodle" F' sKerry..etc. etc.
It is SET in a high school.
It was performed in Chicago.
Inspirational Headline placemarker.
Out of one side of their mouths they say righties are anti-science, and on the other side of their mouths they say homosexuals are that way because of genetics, and pedophiles can't help themselves, because it is their nature as well.
Butbutbut, if we accept the premises of both natural selection, and a gay gene, wouldn't gayness be doomed to failure as a trait? It rarely gets passed along to offspring.
Oh. Still disgusting.
BTTT
Hateful little bigot.
OMG! It was NOT done in a Texas HIGH SCHOOL.
It would make you cringe.
And, do you know how hard I have to work at this?
Oh, I'll bet you work up quite a sweat.
But, but I thought sodomites weren't pedophiles.
I am wondering how it ever got into TEXAS school? NYC or Ithaca or Boston where mocking Christians is required sport - sure, but TEXAS??
That's right. I have actually read this play, which can be found in major chain bookstores along with other plays by noted playwrights.
It starts with a sanctimonious disclaimer recited by the actors in the play essentially saying, 'He belongs to us just as much as he does to you. If you are offended, so be it.'
Corpus Christi was written by Terrence McNally, who also co-wrote Earth Girls Are Easy with Julie Brown, as well as many Broadway plays and musicals, including a musical adaptation of Bush-hating novelist E.L. Doctorow's celebration of domestic terrorism, Ragtime. This wouldn't be notable except for the fact that I had a friendly encounter with one of the lovely and talented actresses in that show. And no, I'm not telling.
That's not a tough one. Where is the city of Corpus Christi located?
In the actual play, the newborn surrogate Christ character is named "Joshua" by his bigoted father, who rejects the name "Jesus" because it sounded too Mexican.
Howl, howl, howl, howl! O, you are men of stones: Had I your tongues and eyes, Id use them so That heavens vault should crack. Shes gone forever! I know when one is dead, and when one lives; Shes dead as earth.
