Kerry "Corrects Record," "Seared" Memory of Christmas in Cambodia Now "Mistaken Recollection"
Wednesday, August 11, 2004 | Kristinn

Posted on 08/11/2004 6:41:38 AM PDT by kristinn

In an interview this morning on Fox and Friends, Kerry spokeman Jeh Johnson backed off of Democrat presidential nominee Senator John Kerry's repeated statements that he had spent Christmas 1968 on a secret mission in Cambodia.

Fox's Brian Kilmead asked Mr. Johnson whether Sen. Kerry would release the action report from January 20, 1969 regarding purported action in Cambodia.

Mr. Johnson said, "I believe you're referring to an incident that happened near Cambodia. Okay, well John Kerry has said on the record that he had a mistaken recollection earlier. He talked about a combat situation on Christmas Eve, 1968, which at one point he said occurred in Cambodia. He has since corrected the record to say it was someplace on a river near Cambodia and he is certain that at some point subsequent to that he was in Cambodia. My recollection, my understanding is he was not certain about that date.

Mr. Kilmead brought up Sen. Kerry's 1986 floor speech in the Senate where he talked about spending Christmas in Cambodia as being "seared---seared" in his memory.

Mr. Johnson replied, "I believe he's corrected the record to say it was someplace near Cambodia, but he is not certain whether it was actually in Cambodia but he is certain that there was some point subsequent to that that he was in Cambodia."

Mr. Johnson also repeated Sen. Kerry's canard that he left Yale in 1966 and turned down all options to further his education by choosing to serve his country. As was (barely) reported in March of this year, Sen. Kerry asked for and was denied a one year deferment to study in Paris.

Never forget that his 'misspoken' testimony before Congress was designed to impugn President Nixon for lying to the American pulic about incursions after North Viet-Namese base camps in Cambodia.

I have NOT been to Barstow and did NOT have takeout there. I was 1 year old at the time.

You are very lucky. I've had food poisoning twice in my life; both times it caused by food from restaurants in Barstow. Now I pack a lunch when I'd driving from L.A. to Vegas.

Oh yes, I agree that Kerry's a liar.

Actually Kerry has released records.

He's released selectively the commendation letters for his medals and *some* fitness reports (you can check the swift vet site). The commendation letters simply repeat kerry's bravery in the terms he himself described to put in for them, so they are a convenient way to 'refute' the swift vets without having to actually go to the situation reports.

Kerry has NOT signed a form 180 to release *all* his records publicly.

oh, yeah, and Kerry never bothered to release the income tax forms for his semi-billionaire wife.

media yawns. ... huh.

Mr. Johnson replied, "I believe he's corrected the record to say it was someplace near Cambodia, but he is not certain whether it was actually in Cambodia but he is certain that there was some point subsequent to that that he was in Cambodia."

What does the above quote mean? It could mean he was in Cambodia during Christmas, or near Cambodia during Christmas, or in Cambodia at a later date.

Still no meaningly official response since Carl Cameron posed the question. How undecisive and un-Presidential. Is this how he acts in a minor crisis. It is just like his 40 minute zombie impersonation.

I cannot help but to think that Hitlary is in a dark room some where laughing her fat ass off and telling her flying monkees that it's all going to her plan.

Yeah, check my post 109 this thread. Plan on emailing this to any of my friends who think Kerry is being unfairly accused. " You can look it up".

PING - Kerry / Rassman SITREP - good catch!

I myself am still reserving judgment. Rassman is a good eyewitness and I frankly would not know why he'd distort the account intentionally. otoh, if the boats were all in same vicinity, they'd all know whether enemy were around or not.

When he loses, she leaves. But then again she has the money so he leaves. They'll even flip-flop about how they leave.

the problem is once he admits cambodia was a lie, then we start talking about all the other lies then he was a real problem. The good news is death by a thousand cuts is still death. It has been on fox news all the talk radio shows, the daily news, washington times- It isn't going away and they have no answer, it will get worse every day until he is forced to withdrawal.

Here's another interesting full article from the Washington Post that is posted in full at the Kerry site: (possibly in violation of CFR)

An aide walked into Kerry's study for the third time. "Your 4:30 phone call is waiting." It was 4:50 pm.

He walked down the stairs, toward the living room. In his striped shirt and tie Kerry looked like any other politician. Then he reached into his suit pocket. In the light of the stairwell, a piece of metal glinted in his hand. It was his dog tag, his identity, stripped to its essentials: "Kerry john f. Service # Usn Rom cath. Blood type O."

He carries the chain in his pocket, always: "This brought me home safe." In Vietnam, he had taped the dog tags together so they wouldn't rattle during secret missions."

Yeah, like someone could hear the dog tags rattle but miss the diesel engine roar of his swift boat.

If a Republican had a "mistaken recollection" or 50 "mistaken recollections" like Kerry, the press would refer to it as a "lie". Wonder if the New York Times or the Washington Post or CBS will ever call a lie a lie when it's a dem.... Is never the answer? The press needs to write out the standard.

One standard.

If a dem is caught lying it's the same as a conservative caught lying. If they don't figure out how to be fair soon, they'll have rooms full of prizes and no readers. Silly tradeoff. Are publishers so rich now they don't care about readers? Can they afford to throw away a business to feed the fat egos of liberals?

It's their right to be unfair, but is it fair to their shareholders? Fools.

Biased, unfair, small-minded fools.

They deserve the fate of CNN, and the other fading newscasts. Enjoy the prizes, you've lost the respect of your readers.

And yeah, even the fair-minded liberals don't like the teacher's pet stuff. It's unattractive to all but the true believers.

I wonder what "Mama T" is thinking about this lie about Cambodia? She's the one who talks about liberated women not taking it from lying, rotten men.

Not only that, but Nixon wasn't even President when Yawwwn was supposed to have been in Cambodia in Dec 1968!

Yawwwn was in VN for 4 months. One Christmas.

And he spent that Christmas on the river well over 50 miles from the Cambodian border, at Se Dac.

The sloppy media never asks hard questions, because they are too stoopid to know any details like this!

Well, and because of course they're covering for this guy.
