Kerry "Corrects Record," "Seared" Memory of Christmas in Cambodia Now "Mistaken Recollection"
Wednesday, August 11, 2004 | Kristinn

In an interview this morning on Fox and Friends, Kerry spokeman Jeh Johnson backed off of Democrat presidential nominee Senator John Kerry's repeated statements that he had spent Christmas 1968 on a secret mission in Cambodia.

Fox's Brian Kilmead asked Mr. Johnson whether Sen. Kerry would release the action report from January 20, 1969 regarding purported action in Cambodia.

Mr. Johnson said, "I believe you're referring to an incident that happened near Cambodia. Okay, well John Kerry has said on the record that he had a mistaken recollection earlier. He talked about a combat situation on Christmas Eve, 1968, which at one point he said occurred in Cambodia. He has since corrected the record to say it was someplace on a river near Cambodia and he is certain that at some point subsequent to that he was in Cambodia. My recollection, my understanding is he was not certain about that date.

Mr. Kilmead brought up Sen. Kerry's 1986 floor speech in the Senate where he talked about spending Christmas in Cambodia as being "seared---seared" in his memory.

Mr. Johnson replied, "I believe he's corrected the record to say it was someplace near Cambodia, but he is not certain whether it was actually in Cambodia but he is certain that there was some point subsequent to that that he was in Cambodia."

Mr. Johnson also repeated Sen. Kerry's canard that he left Yale in 1966 and turned down all options to further his education by choosing to serve his country. As was (barely) reported in March of this year, Sen. Kerry asked for and was denied a one year deferment to study in Paris.

I can understands this. I, too, once had "mistaken recollections" about having spend Christmas 1968 on a secret mission to Cambodia. Turns out, we actually had Chinese takeout in Barstow...

I remember you!

I was the CIA guy sitting in the booth next to you.

I really was in Barstow Christmas eve 1968.

This goes a lot deeper than just the statements, it goes into money. Royalties for all those depicted in the film! His whole Swift Boat Crew is about to become a bit more wealthy.
George Butler is a New Hampshire Film Maker and a long time friend with Kerry. He made such films as "Pumping Iron". Butler is currently making a film about Kerry's experiences in Vietnam, called "Going up River", expected to hit theatres this September. He is now suing The Vietnam Vets Against Kerry for unauthorized use of photos. This is one reason Kerry's campaign is against this book because it will blow his cover and bring questions to this films accuracy. This is a quote from Butler on WHDH TV Boston, Aired 7/21/2004.
"Everything John Kerry said about Vietnam applies to Iraq as well. So there's a message in the film that's very interesting film indeed."

somebody check to see if Kerry visited Cambodia as a senator.

He has. I know that for sure, and that's what brought the point to mind.

He talked about a combat situation on Christmas Eve, 1968, which at one point he said occurred in Cambodia.

Make that at 12 points (or more).

Upon his graduation in 1966, Kerry was given the honor of delivering the class oration. Many at Yale noticed that this young man, on his way to becoming a commissioned officer in Vietnam, was critical of the war -- and the use of American military might against communist regimes. ``What was an excess of isolationism has become an excess of interventionism,'' Kerry said in the oration. ``And this Vietnam War has found our policy makers forcing Americans into a strange corner . . . that if victory escapes us, it would not be the fault of those who lead, but of the doubters who stabbed them in the back -- notions all too typical of an America that had to find Americans to blame for the takeover in China by the communists, and then for the takeover in Cuba.'' Then, in a sentence that harkened back to the Nazi aggression that his mother had fled, he said: ``The United States must, I think, bring itself to understand that the policy of intervention that was right for Western Europe does not and cannot find the same application to the rest of the world.'' In what may have been an allusion to his own plans to enlist, Kerry added: ``We have not really lost the desire to serve. We question the very roots of what we are serving.''

That is from the boston.com article I referenced in my previous post. There is more, and the whole story is fascinating. I could not bring myself to watch the DNC convention, so I missed all the Kerry history. Did they talk about his family history at all???? Did they talk about his immigrant grandparents? Did they talk about his father the diplomat? Did they talk about his lifelong ambition of becoming POTUS?????

Kerry's lies are catching up with him. He thought his liberal media buddies would protect him.

If they can't, it won't be due to a lack of effort.

Mistaken recollection
No controlling legal authority
Depends on the meaning of is, is
"Inadvertently" removed documents from the National Archives
Bureaucratic "snafu" (Clinton taking FBI files)

Not on his boat
Voted against it before he voted for it

...Senator John Kerry's repeated statements that he had spent Christmas 1968 on a secret mission in Cambodia.

JFK will no doubt recall his fright as a young child in Massachusetts while watching black churches being burned to the ground by right-wing racists.
