Brit Hume and Lt Col Bill Cowan Supporting Switfee Story
Fox News

Posted on 08/10/2004 3:32:18 PM PDT by what's up

Hume looks to be going after the story. Asking ALL the right questions.

Basically the main topic was whether the other Swift Boat people would have been considered as "serving" with John Kerry.

Lt Col Bill Cowan who served on a Swift Boat said "Absolutely!" In FACT, someone on another boat might be able to BETTER see what was going on on Kerry's boat than the men on the boat themselves because they have a panoramic view of the scene.

He was reading about this part from the Washington Post

-- Snip --

It's been a hard rap to overcome in part because Kerry is reserved. He inherited it from his mother, along with her devotion to public service. "She taught us you stiff-upper-lip it," said his sister, Diana Kerry. "John is a man of the people. Of the little people, actually. He needs to project who he really is by simplifying."

And who is he, really?

A close associate hints: There's a secret compartment in Kerry's briefcase. He carries the black attaché everywhere. Asked about it on several occasions, Kerry brushed it aside. Finally, trapped in an interview, he exhaled and clicked open his case.

"Who told you?" he demanded as he reached inside. "My friends don't know about this."

The hat was a little mildewy. The green camouflage was fading, the seams fraying.

"My good luck hat," Kerry said, happy to see it. "Given to me by a CIA guy as we went in for a special mission in Cambodia."

Kerry put on the hat, pulling the brim over his forehead. His blue button-down shirt and tie clashed with the camouflage. He pointed his finger and raised his thumb, creating an imaginary gun. He looked silly, yet suddenly his campaign message was clear: Citizen-soldier. Linking patriotism to public service. It wasn't complex after all; it was Kerry.

He smiled and aimed his finger: "Pow."

John Kerry

I don't know anything about what he DOES BELIEVE!! I do know he has a lot of trouble with making up his mind and the truth. We have already had one President who couldn't tell the truth, and had trouble making up his mind because he didn't want the blame for anyhthing. Clinton, who I am talking about, set this country up for the fall big time. We know now he simply didn't want to confront anyone about anything. Three thousand people picked up the tab on that one. We don't need another dunce in the White House, especially one with Kerry's background.

It may be that the next mantra is that Kerry "volunteered to serve" while others only served when drafted...Yes, this will probably be the next strawman - of course his side will never mention that he only volunteered because he knew he was going to be drafted, so he went into the Navy thinking he'd be safe from combat, except that before he arrived in Vietnam his unit's mission was changed and he ended up under fire (most of it from his own weapons, apparently).....

The hypocrisy of the defense of Kerry/attacks on the Swiftvets is getting ridiculous...It's "despicable" (probably the only big word Colmes knows, since he likes to use it so often) to question Kerry because he served the country, and any Swiftvet who does is a lying, immoral, politically-motivated churl (not that Kerry's whole service wasn't formed by his own political motivations)...laughable.....

"Why is he not being prosecuted?"

Because nobody had the guts to go to Belgium, and present evidence?

Like the Palis did with Sharon; and some other diaper-domes tried with President Bush et.al.

I received a call from a Congressman's office. I was told Berger has been cleared by the FBI. There it is. Someone bought him a pass.

I did not slam Hannity or Gibson but I did slam O-Butthead and Shep.

I sent Britt an e-mail asking why he was poo-pooing the Swifties.....and to Ailes too.

I bet I wasn't the only one.....and look now. Fox brought the heat on themselves aside from Sean and John.

I emailed O'Reilly as well and explained how he is no longer a "factor". The swift vets have my support. Big media and our smarmy leaders have all been exposed big time.

It's going to take the honest and fair minded American citizenry organizing to reverse the decline of our way of life. God bless the Swift Vets and give them courage as they face the wrath of a dishonest and unscrupulous political machine called the "Democratic Party".

Fox deserved to be slammed. Everyone but Hannity reviewed this story initially through the lens of politics rather than as an opportunity to bring the American people the Truth. I've always liked Brit, but he disappointed me last week. He disappointed a number of people that wrote E-mails in defense of these Vets to Fox. That could be partial reason why Fox is changing its tune on this story.

Preach it bro!!! I bet I sent out 40-50 e-mails to Fox, NRO etc. I bet Ailes and Britt went woa after getting bombarded by lots of folks. I listened to O-Butthead last nite on the radio and he was taking heat too....lots of folks were angry. These swifties are the real deal and if Bill Cowan thinks so, it's good enuff for me......more than good enuff. Kerry's Nam lies are forever damaged. Mission accomplished at a minimum.

I don't know Cowan. How did someone without a Navy rank serve in the swiftboats? Don't flame me, I'm just a groundpounder.

The Air Force had boats similar to the Swiftboats at Cam Rahn Bay. Air Force SP's manned them. I spent 9 months at Cam Rahn in 1971 and some of my fellow SP's manned them. Hence, the Navy was not the only boat guys in Nam.

I know that Brit said during the coverage of President Reagan's funeral that he had attended one of those fancy private schools in the DC area ... can't think of the name of it but it may have been the same one that algore attended. So Brit apparently did not grow up as a pauper. I don't know anything about his background ... I only know that he is about the only person on tv news worth two cents.

It was the school attached to the National Cathedral. I remember Hume said during Reagan's funeral he used to attend chapel there when it was just being built.

(I'm thinking that the name of the school is St. Albans...but that may be wrong.)

The MSM won't touch Karpinski. And the case can't be made that "W knew, but K didn't." As far as that goes, I can't see the MSM even attacking England. Now if they could somehow say that Ann C. was secretly commissioned and was in direct contact with AG on a STU III...

Thank you so much. Yep, that was the thing Rush was reading. However, I do not see where Rush saw proof that Kerry may have been in Cambodia. More like he was keeping up with his old lies. If you are going to have a liar for president, he'd better be a good one.

Yes he is. You wouldn't have thought that last week when FNC bashers came out of the woodwork and slammed just about EVERYONE on Fox. Personally, if it weren't for Fox I would have already slit my wrist.

May have something to do with a lot of FReepers emailing him. I did.

I think this is very encouraging for the Republicans. Kerry is definitely not telling the whole truth here.
