The .308 is still the "bee's knees" when it comes to a soft target long shot. I grew up using the .30-06, which comes a close second to the .308. A good .30-30 lever is probably the best all around rifle to have around in this part of the country for brush.

Personally, if I could ever afford it, the Springfield M1A would be one of my best friends.

I'd love to know the names of all specific sights on the surveillance tapes, but that might cause me to have a panic attack. (Just kidding, of course)

Glad to help....this just makes me wonder if this is going to be a new trend.

"Every man for himself as it is increasingly evident our government is more prone to protect the enemy than its own citizens in this time of war based on their intent to kowtow to the ACLU and its ilk."

We'll stand together. I really don't think that many will take the "every man for himself" position. Those that do are just as much the enemy as the goblins, IMHO. As long as the pointy end is aimed at the goblins, we're all in sync.

You're not alone looking at the 15th/16th timeframe. Don't forget the VZ referendum. Hugo Chavez is in bed with the goblins.

It may be appropriate to add a few nations to your summary:

China
North Korea
Russia
Venezuela

Do you mean a new trend in disrupting oil supplies or a new trend in disrupting readily available news about such disruptions? An announcement recently made it clear that news regarding domestic nuke plant problems would be suppressed, so a suppression of news about domestic oil supply problems would be consistent with that.

It seems like ever since that New York meeting in January with media moguls and some big shot, that some aspects of the news are held back. Does anyone remember what I'm referring to or the specifics of that meeting?

That was on my wish list too. Sadly, our friends at Springfield are building the rifles with substandard foreign parts. Find a used with quality American made parts if you can.

Yup.

This storm is going to rival Andrew as far as property cost IMO.

I hope you have some kind of BOB with you. Preparation would go a long way to reassuring your coworkers. Collect flashlights, 1st aid stuff, take inventory now.

... Part 3 ...

I'm manning phones at our Hurricane News Desk, transferring calls from our reporters out in the field, dictating stories and fielding calls from readers.

The latest we hear is that Charley has wobbled and is taking aim on either Fort Myers or Charlotte Harbor - which would be good news for us, at least. And that would be VERY good news for the Tampa Bay area. If the eye had gone over Pinellas, I can't imagine what would happen. The storm surge alone would wipe out a lot.

Our executive editor has delayed his decision on what to do till 3:15. It looks like we'll stay here - if we were to get hurricane-force winds, we shouldn't be in this building. Now that it looks like we'll get tropical-storm-force winds, we're in better shape.

This isn't a good sign. In Charlotte County, the Punta Gorda Emergency Operations Center has been evacuated.

Winds are starting to pick up. We've also noticed a "fully involved fire" at a Tire Factory (a tire store) a few blocks away. How the heck did that get started?

I just called my family and they're doing great. There's four adults and six kids - it's a big party.

Still, the worse has yet to come ... I snuck in a flask of red wine. I plan on sipping some when the lights go out.

How far from the nearest mosque?

Ha! Actually, there's a mosque north of here that's been in the news. The Sarasota County Commission rejected the mosque's plans for 75-foot minarets. It created quite the stir.
