Under pressure from Democrats, two television stations are reported to have dropped the ad by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth that charges John Kerry has lied about his Vietnam war record.

WBAY in Green Bay, Wisc., refused to run it, according to Human Events. And WTVG in Toledo, Ohio, dropped the ad after the Kerry campaign used a story in the Boston Globe yesterday to convince the station's management it was false, the Drudge Report said.

Methinks that both WBAY and WTVG might use a good freeping, what say you?

I am in WBAY's viewing area and watch it often... perhaps a boycott is in order. Either way, I shall email them.

Be sure and capture the Capital Gang transcript from tonight, or watch the overnight re-run, at 4 am EST. Bob Novak and Kate O'Bierne are fabulous in defending the swiftboaters against the savage attack by Al Hunt and Tony Cohello.

For those who are in the viewing area of these two stations, when you contact them be sure to ask them if they ran ads for Farenheit 9/11, and if so, tell them that much of the information in that film has been debunked..

WBAY President and General Manager Don Carmichael told Human Events his station will not broadcast the ad "on advice of counsel."

Carmichael stated that after reviewing the affidavits of the veterans, seeing the commercial and hearing the pro-Kerry "counter-claims," his station decided to refuse it.

He would not elaborate on the "counter-claims."

LOL! They were intimidated!

Gee, I wonder if they investigate the claims of all of their advertisers. Funny it takes the Dems to do what they have accused Bush and Ashcroft of doing.

I don't think they were intimidated, but used the Boston Globe article as an excuse to stop the ads.

Email is absolutely worthless except for one-to-one communication (sigh) ... they have already been SPAMMED pro & con about the issue.

Absolutely crazy outside the box idea ... take a deep breath now ... write the station manager a letter (or printout the email) and put it in an envelope with a postage stamp. SIGN your name, snail mail address, & local phone number.

Send the station manager a letter as in US Mail letter with a return address identical to your real return address inside that viewing area

Another absolutely crazy idea ... a bunch of you in the local viewing area pitch in $10, $100, $1000 each to pay for the ad to be broadcast ... locals paying to have the ad played in the local viewing area ... again a crazy idea.

Still another absolutely crazy idea ... a bunch of local viewing area residents should sign a letter that will be delivered in person to the local viewing area advertisers (e.g. car dealerships) by several of the most presentable/agreeable/'nice'/well-spoken of the VRWC in the local viewing area ... please no tin-foil black-helicopter milita camo-gear wearing members ... ties and sensible dress shoes (unless you are the belly button protest warrior republican girl ;-)

Note that car dealerships are easily picketed on weekends at high visibility locations ;-);-);-)

WBAY President and General Manager Don Carmichael told Human Events his station will not broadcast the ad "on advice of counsel."

How about an ad as an explanation: "A government of the lawsuits, by the trial lawyers and for the activist judges."

As regards the impact of e-mail versus that of a real, mailed letter, you are right on target. There is some ratio used to determine how many people think about something based on the number of real letters received, and companies and agencies use this as a basis for decision-making.

E-mails are just too easy to knock out. Letters are another breed of cat.

It really needs to come from local viewers. Freepers in those areas need to be notified and contact their stations.

Here is an example of what can be sent. This is what I sent in. Feel free to copy and adjust as you see fit.

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing regarding the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth tv ad. I am appalled that you are refusing to air the ad, by decorated war heroes. It shows the leftist slant in the media is true. I am sure you had plenty of coverage on the Fahrenheit 911 crockumentary, even though it was based on lies, deceits, and distortions of the truth. I can not believe in this day of free speech and equal rights for all, that you would censure decorated war heroes. It is a sad day for this nation when those who put their lives on the line to protect this nation and ensure free speech and equal rights for all, are being drowned out by censorship. You should be ashamed! I am asking that you give the Swift Boat Vets the same treatment that you give John Kerry and every other political organization. Please do not take away the rights of those who fought to defend those very rights! Please allow their voices to be heard. Please do not refuse to air the ad. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Todd
