What is wrong with Fox?
Fox News | 8/6/04

Posted on 08/06/2004 3:37:35 PM PDT by pabianice

Fox News has just reported the Boston Globe/Swift Boat Veteran "retraction" of his damninmg words about Kerry as fact, and omitted that the man quoted has since called the Globe a liar and reaffirmed his statement.

Is Fox screwed-up or has this story changed again??

Not to worry. The rest of the story will come out tomorrow, thereby extending the coverage into another news cycle.

relax, they are being fair and balanced. Some of the commentators are pro-swift boat vets and some are anti-swift boat vets and some are in the middle.

Sure sounds like fair and balanced to me.

What we don't want is for the Dems to accuse Fox of spearheading this campaign

Some seriously subversive thought here. You're going to be filing reports to the mods all night!

Please bring up my post # 253 on thread title "Now Shep Smith Pulling an O'Reilly???"

It address my horror at Jim Angle's news show at dinnertime. The first segment was an overt, unashamed ad for Kerry.

I sent an email to Brit hume/Jim Angle about the inaccurate statement and enclosed Elliots statement. If they offer the retraction tomorrow, it's a day too late. The viewership is not the same on the weekend.

What is wrong with Fox?

Apparently, Fox News Channel has forgotten who brought them to this party.

Perhaps it's time to remind them.

Take those flags off your lapels, FOX.

They have to walk on infinitely fine egg shells right now to avoid even the smidgen of an appearance of a likelihood of being in President Bush's pocket.

Uh...No, they don't.

Their obligation is to the TRUTH. Wasn't CNN smeared for failing to report the truth in Iraq so they could secure a base of operations? Why should FOX be given a pass?

If they refuse to report the truth they have earned the moniker of "mainstream media". They become irrelevent to me.

cut Fox News Channel a huge break. They have to walk on infinitely fine egg shells right now to avoid even the smidgen of an appearance of a likelihood of being in President Bush's pocket.

In other words, FOX needs to be PC? No way. No, FOX does NOT deserve a huge break.

Why should they have to "tiptoe"? You think CNN is worried about avoiding the "smidgen" of appearance of being in Kerry's pocket? Give me a break.

FOX better start paying more attention to the viewers who got FOX where it is today.

Lately, I can't tell much of a difference between FOX and the pther networks. Even O'Reilly admitted that FOX actually schedules more leftists than conservatives (He said there's actually a tally kept).

The new FOX news editor is a lefty. I think that he is sabtaging FOX. Call 1888 369 4762 and pick the "make a news correction" option. Tell them what a dumb mistake Jim Angle made by reporting the Globe story as truth.

Fox News seemed extremely palatable to us in the beginning because we were so used to not seeing ANY news generated by the "right" leaning positions in this country.

Under pressure that they are ONLY "right" leaning (bogus pressure to be sure), I have seen a concerted effort, of late, to "balance" their coverage with views from BOTH sides of the aisle.

I still say, Fox News IS fair and balanced, albeit they do error on the side of "breaking news". In this case, the retraction of the Viet Nam Vet...and they don't wait for the clarification that inevitably surfaces.

I still support Fox News, as without them, we have NO news that supports the positions we espouse.

Would I prefer an ALL right-leaning news source? Perhaps. But because I think we fight our own demons on our side of the aisle, I would NOT trust a news source that purported to feed to me, only what I wanted to hear.

Just my opinion.

Evidently Jim Angle reported the original Boston Globe story during "Special Report" and did not note the vet says the Globe story is wrong.

I am really shocked at the tone Brian Wilson took yesterday in his reporting of the story and now to hear about this Angle piece. They are two reporters on Fox I thought had it pretty together.
