TV Station WTVG 13-ABC, Toledo, Ohio dropped the anti-Kerry vet ad on Friday after the Kerry campaign used the GLOBE/Kranish story to convince the station's management the ad was false.]
BOSTON GLOBE 'REPORTER' COMMISSIONED TO WRITE CAMPAIGN BOOK FOREWORD -- WHILE COVERING KERRY
BOSTON GLOBE journalist Mike Kranish has been commissioned to write the foreword of the Kerry-Edwards campaign book -- just as he is covering the campaign in an official capacity as a journalist for the BOSTON GLOBE!
Kranish made waves on Friday by reporting in the GLOBE how a key figure in the anti-Kerry vet ad campaign, Kerry's former commanding officer, "backed off one of the key contentions."
But Captain George Elliott claims the Kranish article is "extremely inaccurate" and highly misstated his actual views.
Par for the Course in Toledo. That city (along with Youngstown) is the poster child for letting Demonrats run a city into the ground.
Send a message to the station bump!

Good point!
Isn't this a clear violation of the "Campaign Finance Reform" laws? How do we file this as a violation and call for an investigation!?
Did this station run the infamous 'whither on the vine' union ad back in the 90's? Is there a way to find out? If they did then I would guess it would be an excellent reason for a civil rights case (1st amendment).
Its an ABC station.
I hate to break this to ya folks, but local stations are not always non biased groups.
Many of them will tow the network line. Especially if the are part of a larger group, such as BELO.
Someone on this thread listed phone numbers for the station.
FREEP THEM NOW. That is one thing that will worry them.
Exposure for caving into dnc pressure....based on a bogus Globe article....is one thing they don't want.
We freeped our ABC affiliate in Dayton, WDTN, this morning and they are now showing it again. Boortz was on the air at 9:00 this morning calling out WDTN and before his show was over at 12:00, WDTN had changed their website to say that they would play the ad.
I don't think that would work. Remember the Dixie Chicks issue .. it's a station's perogative (as a business) to make a "business" decision not to run any commercial or ad.
While we know they caved to political pressure .. you'd probably have a hard time proving that it was a free speech issue.
The problem is that the Swift Boat Vets are just ordinary guys. The Dims know this which is why they are pressuring them. The Vets are not used to the type of media pressure they are getting. They also are constantly being called liars. How long will they be able to take this?
Neal Boortz was reporting of a TV station in Dayton, OH that had also caved and was refusing to carry the ad, but they were continuing to carry Moveover.org ads.
Ben Stein on FoxNews just said Kerry owes an apology to those who served with him.
Stuart Varney is acting like he is pro-Kerry and thinks the ad will backfire against GWB.
Well .. they may seem "ordinary", but I have a different take.
You can't get any more "pressure" than being SHOT AT. These guys may appear to be demure .. but don't let that fool you. The more pressure the media applies .. the stronger they will be against it.

It's not a free speech issue...
At this point, it doesn't matter whether or not the ads actually run, they've moved from the "potty break" portion of TV programming, to the "hard news" section. Yes, they will be spun around a few times, but Google searches will always show the truth for those who bother to want to find it.
All the better they get "banned", what is forbidden is desirable.
You got that right. This is not the bunch to pressure.
We've already put our lives on the line. We can use our Veteran status to the advantage of the country, rather than a few who use it to sell themselves.
