Thanks again for the great photos. It's hard to tell if the police and national guards are for/against Al Sadr.

AH HA! That explains why the Runt is making his move, al-Sistani is not in country! al-Sadr is making a power grab while al-Sistani is gone. The fool may have blundered into a trap here, his militia may be completely destroyed.

Yes folks, I see a definite pattern here. They attack our soldiers, we kill hordes of them, they cry ceasefire!...we ceasefire... they regroup, and the process repeats itself.

I believe there is a time for mercy, and the virtue itself should not be underestimated. But these rebellious people are begging for anhilation, and our Marines are chomping at the bit to make it happen.

I do hope the next time they call for a ceasefire, we don't treat it like a "timeout" called at a highschool football game.

The NEXT time they call for a ceasefire, that should be our cue to go finish the job and break their will to fight.

As always, a great posting Dio!

I can understand that we do not want to risk a Shiite uprising in the country but what's the point of having a ceasefire at this stage? It only allows the enemy another chance which we should not give. The problem is that in this war, we have not decimated the enemy enough.

Hi Diogenesis.

I posted this on the Threat Matrix in the wee hours this morning. I'll repost it here for an FYI. The reason I have an article about Badr here too is because I usually don't see any Badr's "in the news" so thought it might be an interesting piece. (I don't speak Arabic.)

Faris Ahmed Jamaan al-Showeel al-Zahrani (search) was No. 12 on the kingdom's list of 26 most-wanted terror suspects."

Correct. Breaking the will of a people to fight would be considered overkill by the liberals for certain, and it's a brutal, but necessary process.

I get the impression that somebody in charge isn't being allowed to do the job correctly. I hate to keep quoting Israeli methods, but they do seem to have a good grip on dealing with these types of people.

I'll lay odds many of those policemen themselves don't know. They just want to be on the winning side. If they think al-Sadr is winning, they'll put on their Elmer al-Fudd badges. As soon as the Mehdi Army starts taking an ass-kicking, those badges will disappear faster than your bank account under a Kerry presidency.

Yet another reason why we have to act quickly, decisively, and with overwhelming (yet precisely applied) force. If we don't, we will lose huge numbers of the Iraqi police and army that are supposedly our allies. They will respect and fear our strength, not our mercy.
