This has been one of my mantras since I arrived at FR in '97 ('96?). Holding rallies, working to get candidates elected, etc., is of immediate importance, but until we solve the media prejudice issue, we will always be pushing that boulder up the hill only to have it roll back down on us the moment our attention is diverted.
Liberals have to rely on propaganda and intimidation, in the media, in education, in unions, etc., to maintain control. They know it is the mothers milk of their effectiveness. Conservatives, if we are ever to achieve a lasting ascendancy and eliminate liberalism as a significant cultural influence, must understand that a long term plan on confronting and overcoming this challenge must be put in place or we will always just come up short of our goals.
Do you think Clinton would have been re-elected, Hillary still sitting in the Senate, Gore almost winning in '00 and sKerry this close in '04 if it wasn't for the lapdog media who decides not only what information is disseminated, but as important, what isn't and how and where it is presented?
People say we have Fox News. Fox News does very well and beats the other cable stations, but when you add up the numbers for the others all together, they beat Fox. And, they still got Rather, Brokaw and Jennings. They still have the NY/LA Times and magazines. They still got our universities, our unions, our entertainment industry (an information dissemination industry all it's own). Yes, we got the internet, but it pales to the competitions advantage.
I'm not going to present a plan, I have my own ideas and am working on some of them. I'd like to hear what the FReepers have to say and what ideas you have, and, how far you are willing to go.
Morris is a plump whore. He's never right. Get him some more TOES to suck on!
that dip oreilly keeps pointing out that he gets flame mail from both the right and left. he implies that this is proof he is fair. what stupid thinking. all it does is give equal creedence to a lie. if one says the sky is blue and one says it is green.. and you get flamed from both sides on the issue it that is not an indication of impartiallity.
Its amazing how all the media folks spent weeks on end digging into the completely false claims made against Bush's Guard Service.
YET THEY WON'T EVEN TOUCH THE SWIFT BOAT VETS FOR TRUTH STORY.
And these guys were there. There are actually witnesses to the charges being made against Kerry.

I don't think you get it. A majority of Americans STILL get their opinions from the lamestream INFLUENCE. We are still a great minority!
Maybe it's time to put some pressure on some of the mega corporations about buying out a few of these news organizations. They need to understand that they are sinking through the floor right now because nobody is buying their BS. Yes, they still have a residual influence, but someone needs to buy them out, put a conservative in charge of the newsroom, and start firing anyone who produces anything that slants.

SICK! Bush should say NOTHING about it!
I'm in for ten....
This has been one big "backfire". The truth will not get out to the public. It is so evident now that we are deeply into a media controlled world. Nothing will ever be the same again. Be afraid.
O'Reilly can be a huge a**hole sometimes. Tonight was a perfect example.
Nowhere near as far as it sounds like you're willing to go.
AND SHOUTING DOESN'T HELP YOUR CASE.
Slowly but surely, we're winning the media war. Be patient. It took the left 75 years to gain control of the media (and education) even with a well though out plan begun by the 1930's reds.
Fox News wasn't even a Factor in 96, and barely on the radar in 2000.
As for O'Reilly, he likes to grandstand against the right on occasion merely to support his claims of non-partisianship. But he DOES respond to mashing from us, as note his turn around re WMD that he initially went after Bush on.
Don't stop watching O'Reilly, because if we all left he would join the Dems. O'Reilly is after audience, and if we stick with him, he'll stick with us.
Me too. How are we going to structure this leveraged buyout and a small equity stake. I'm in for a couple of shares.
Must be a lot of peeps going to the swiftvets site to check out what all the fuss is about because I have not been able to get through for awhile. Site must be getting hammered.
Exactly, the Passion was trashed and most of Micheal Moore's press was bad, but they both show that any press is good press. The people will see and decide for themselves.
He's not only made that assumption, which concludes 8-10 decorated vets are lying and Kerry, a man whose veracity is always in question, is telling the truth. He then went one further and said the administration should have tried to stop it.
What an ass.
I can't wait to see the "mail" segment tomorrow.
Move onto other topics. Use the same starkness to talk about Kerry's Senate career.
Bush should simply dismiss the whole thing by saying "I'm not going to criticize what my opponent did 30 years ago. I want to focus on how he's performing in his current job. That's a better indicator of his qualifications to take my job."
It's like what the ancient Chinese warrior/scholor Sun Tzu wrote about good ground and bad ground for fighting. The victor chooses the battleground and makes his enemy fight there. So far, Kerry has chosen his stint in Vietnam 30 years ago as the battleground. Will Bush try to fight him there where his own record is spotty, or will he move Kerry onto more favorable ground, as in Kerry's current career and recent years in government?

Is the NYTimes a publicly held company? Um. Don't think so.
Would be a good idea if it was. The Times leads the news, and any other major media outlet wouldn't have the same effect.
It's unfortunate that on the one day the swiftboat veterans for truth have grabbed the media spotlight, their website has been down all day. They worked so hard against seemingly insurmountable odds to get the public's attention. No one but CNN would cover their excellent, hour-long D.C. press conference. Today I've heard their URL passed out on several radio programs, but it's not working.

O'Reilly deserves to have his mouth taped shut for his behavior tonight. What an a**hole!
Kerry Threatens TV Stations Over Swift Boat Ad (Letter Contains "Obvious Lie"; BIG Kerry Stumble!)
Every vet in the ad says, "I served with John Kerry," but not one of them claims to have been in his boat. Most of the men are other swiftboat captains. They've been open and clear in their statements that they served in other swift boats operating within 50 yards on Kerry's side, and their statements are their observations on serving alongside him, not under him.
O'Reilly is the idiot he calls everyone else. How sickening.
